About me and my therapy practice
I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor and Â鶹Դ´ registered therapist working with adult clients. I am a person-centred and integrative practitioner, drawing on a range of theories and approaches to create a therapy unique to you.
I like to use the image of a journey through an unknown woodland to describe my approach: you choose which path to go down, the speed of the journey and how far to venture. I am your companion on this journey, offering support and encouragement through uncertain or rough terrain, checking in on your resources, and carrying a lamp to guide us through dark patches.
My background is in Higher Education, where I spent 15 years in research, teaching and professional roles. I love experiencing other cultures and languages, and have lived and worked in the UK, Germany and China. Inclusivity and curiosity are values at the heart of my practice: whatever the similarities or differences between us might be, I look forward to welcoming and exploring them in our work together.
Practice description
Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, I offer in-person and online therapy to adult (18+) clients.
In my personal and professional experience, being a person is complicated, beautiful and confusing. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or alone; unsure of where to start or how to change things. You may be looking for a space to be seen and heard, or for support with navigating changes.
Therapy is a confidential and safe space dedicated to you. If you think you’d like to work with me, please contact me via the Â鶹Դ´ directory or my website: laurenselfe.com
