About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my profile! I am a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor. As a Registered Member of the Â鶹Դ´, I work within their ethical framework and have regular supervision to ensure that I am working safely and ethically with my clients.
I am fully DBS checked and any records are stored securely in line with GDPR. I am fully insured with Professional Indemnity Insurance and ICO registered. I work in two peaceful settings; one in central Cheltenham and the other just outside. Everything you share with me will be treated in a confidential manner where we can explore your difficulties together in a safe space. I have worked with presenting issues to include depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, trauma, abuse, grief, relationship difficulties....
My original training was integrative meaning I studied the psychodynamic and person-centred theoretical approaches to understanding human psychology. As I progressed, I undertook a BSc (Hons) psychology degree to include the clinical and counselling modules; this afforded me the opportunity to carry out my own research in aiming to understand the impact of alcohol dependency; whilst I do not have specific training in addiction, my research gave me an insight into understanding subjective experiences and the impact on others.
I completed my training as a person-centred counsellor and my work is underpinned by this humanistic approach. However, I also draw upon other theories; the person-centred modality promotes that clients are their own best expert and it is my role to facilitate the process of helping you to understand yourself at a deeper level by offering you therapeutic conditions conducive to understanding your own beliefs, values and behaviour whilst aiming to help you harness self-acceptance, personal growth and positive change.
I would be delighted to have the opportunity to work with you and am happy to answer any questions you may have about my work and experience.

Practice description
The name for my practice 'Positive Life Solutions Counselling’ came about from my firm belief in the possibility for positive change having worked with clients for some time now. When faced with overwhelming difficulties, it is easy to feel lost and to loose sight of hope. However, the unique relationship that a therapeutic alliance affords helps clients to have the courage to explore aspects of themselves at a deeper level.
Counselling differs from talking to friends or family; it offers a confidential space, free from judgement or opinion. You will be met with congruence and compassion on my part; I am not there to advise you and I work in a non-directive way meaning you have autonomy over what we discuss and at your own pace.
I may encourage you to look at your past history and patterns of relating helping you to identify aspects of yourself which will support you helping you to make the best decisions for yourself which can be both a transformative and empowering process.
The person-centred approach helps you to identify your innate tendency towards growth; change can come about when understanding ourselves and when we accept who we are. The psychodynamic approach helps to make the unconscious conscious supporting clients to identify how their past may be directing their current life.
Counselling is a process of learning about yourself; the very nature of experiencing genuine empathy in nurturing the human spirit and it's positive impact when working at relational depth fosters trust therefore strengthening the therapeutic relationship.
I will encourage you to identify answers to your problems in a supportive environment with an emphasis on your own subjective experience helping you to identify your capacity for growth. This process has the potential for you to achieve greater confidence and independence in managing life events.
My goal is to help you to establish peace within yourself helping you to live a fulfilling life grounded in self knowledge and awareness.
My first session
The first session is a free 20 minute phone conversation which affords you the opportunity to share in confidence what challenges you may currently be facing. It is also an opportunity for you to see if you feel that you would like to work together with me.
I will do a basic, no obligation assessment to see how I can best support you. However, should you feel that you would like to commence having sessions with me, I will offer you an initial 6 sessions and from there we will review the work regularly at 6 week intervals to establish how you feel you are getting on.
I am passionate about the work that I do and your well-being is at the very core of everything I stand for. I am dedicated to supporting my client's emotional well-being and helping them towards personal growth and finding resilience in themselves to manage any ongoing challenges.
The therapeutic relationship is aimed to help you feel valued and accepted just as you are, thus increasing a sense of self-worth and understanding from one human to another.
