About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Grace, a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Berkshire, working with adults and young people. Over the past nine years, I’ve helped clients in a range of settings, including schools, crisis services, online platforms and GP surgeries. My experience has taught me the importance of connecting with each person as an individual and offering support that is both genuine and heartfelt. I provide a welcoming, calm and safe space for clients. I use my experiences and wide range continuing professional development to inform my practice and tailor my approach to suit each individual. Meaning we may work creatively or use a variety of techniques, but it’s all in a way that is designed for you and the work we’re doing. I actively participate in sessions and if I recommend a particular technique, I’ll join in with you every step of the way!
Practice description
My approach is warm, open and deeply empathetic. I believe in creating a welcoming and safe space, where you are free to express yourself without fear of judgement. The relationship between us is at the heart of the work we do together, and I’m committed to listening with compassion and understanding. Together, we explore your feelings and experiences, helping you to gain insight and build self-awareness, so you can move forward with confidence and resilience. Much of my work involves supporting clients dealing with anxiety, trauma, shame, neurodivergence and identity issues.
I believe that our emotional, physical and psychological experiences are deeply interlinked, each influencing the other. From personal experience of chronic health issues and hearing stories from my clients, I’ve seen how physical feelings have a direct impact on psychological wellbeing. During our sessions, we explore bodily sensations together and take a holistic approach to understanding the relationship between mind and body. Growth and healing is a life-long process. Whilst we’re on the journey towards our full self, we sometimes need someone alongside us on that journey. But change and healing only comes when you are ready. Change can be done in stages, small or big. As a therapist I can support this journey at the pace you’re ready for. Taking the step into starting therapy and showing up for yourself is what helps clients change and heal.
Accessibility Information: The room I practice from is up one flight of stairs. I use captions if needed when working online.
My first session
During our sessions, we start by building a solid therapeutic relationship based on trust. From there, we move at your pace to discuss any challenges you may be facing. In sessions, I often reflect on and explore your feelings, bodily sensations, and patterns that might be keeping you feeling stuck.
Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion: I am dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, and I recognise how these values can shape the counselling process. My approach is open and affirming, with an understanding of how my own background may affect our counselling relationship. I always welcome conversations with my clients about their needs, ensuring the space feels both inclusive, respectful and effective. All identities, backgrounds, and experiences are welcome.
