About me and my therapy practice
My name is Kirstie (she/her) and I am a Â鶹Դ´ accredited psychotherapist. I have trained in the psychodynamic modality, but draw on humanist and relational therapeutic practices to support my work. I worked as a teacher for 27 years with adults and young people in London. In 2021, I began my training as a therapist working in schools and I currently work with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Service in a Further Education college in East London supporting students alongside my own practice.
My aim is to offer a safe and confidential space where we can explore whatever you feel is troubling you. I hope to provide a calm and non-judgemental environment, so that you feel able to express feelings and share memories and experiences in a therapeutic setting.
My experience has shown me that when we develop greater self-awareness, and work to accept and appreciate ourselves, we are more likely to feel empowered to make decisions that feel right to us.
I live and work in diverse communities and understand how experiences of precarity, inequality and discrimination can cause distress and affect our abilities to thrive and develop; to feel that we belong. Being able to understand the context of our feelings and behaviours can help in developing insight and the possibility for personal development and change.
Living in a big city like London has its own stresses, which is why I offer the opportunity to work in the outdoors. I can offer sessions in my local park and on my allotment.
If you have any questions about whether therapy could help you, please feel free to call, or contact me via my website.
