About me and my therapy practice

Would you (or your child) like to talk to someone about your feelings and concerns without them talking about their own experiences, giving you their opinions or leaving you feeling they don't really understand? This is where professional counselling can help. I know choosing a counsellor is difficult, there are many of us to choose from, but finding someone who is the 'right fit' is crucial for counselling to be effective. I appreciate that for some people it may be daunting to talk to someone who doesn't know them, and it can take time to build up trust in the counselling relationship but I will work at your pace.

I consider myself to be friendly, down-to-earth, empathetic, warm and able to connect with children and adults alike. I offer integrative counselling meaning I use a variety of methods tailored to your unique needs but my approach is mainly person-centred rooted in the belief that fundamentally you are the expert of you, your experiences and your feelings.

I offer face-to-face, online or telephone counselling sessions. If you feel I may be able to help you or your child, please email me. I aim to reply within 24-48 hours and will offer you a free 15-minute introductory phone call where you can ask questions, talk about why you'd like counselling and together decide whether I could be the 'right fit' for you.

About me:

I am a qualified counsellor with a first-class Psychology degree. I have over 20 years' experience working with children and young people, and have also worked with adults including those with a disability. I regularly attend workshops and training as part of my CPD and am a registered member of the Â鶹ԭ´´.

Practice description

My core approach is person-centred but depending on your needs I practice using an integrative approach (meaning I use ideas from other approaches including psychodynamic and humanistic).

People come to counselling for many different reasons - they may want help with feelings they have had for a long time, or may be struggling with a change in their lives, or may feel 'lost'. I can help people at all stages of their lives, from primary school-aged children to older adults. I will listen to you without judgement and we will work together at your pace to achieve your goals.

Initial contact - If you feel I may be able to help you or your child, please email me. I aim to reply within 24-48 hours and will offer you a free 15-minute introductory phone call where you can ask questions, talk about why you'd like counselling and together decide whether I could be the 'right fit' for you.

After our initial contact we will then arrange a first session to go through our therapeutic contract and discuss your expectations of counselling. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions you might have.

My first session

In your first session I will ask you to complete an assessment (unless you have completed this via email beforehand) and we will explore what brought you to therapy and what you would like to achieve from it. I won't give you advice or tell you what to do but together we can look at possible solutions. I can also work creatively if that is something you or your child would like to do.

Seeking help is not a sign of weakness - it is a brave step in your journey towards a happier, healthier life.
