About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified person centred counsellor having completed my training in 2011.

I work in a supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is troubling you at your own pace.

Life can be really tough at times and sometimes we just need to feel heard and understand why we feel the way we do.

During my training, I worked with survivors of sexual abuse, young people at Off the Record from the age of 11-25 years old  specialising in anxiety, working through it and being given the tools to manage anxiety with a positive outcome.  I also worked with older people through SAGE counselling, senior age counselling, 65 years and older.

My background includes 20 years of experience working with young people, supporting them through challenges such as anxiety, bereavement, low self-esteem and difficulties with managing emotions.  I focus on helping individuals develop the  tools they need to navigate life more confidently and with greater emotional resilience.

Now in Private Practice in the heart of Southsea working from home, I work with adults  and young people offering counselling tailored to each individuals needs.  I believe in  the importance of feeling heard and understood.

I specialise in working with university students and young adults, supporting issues such as anxiety, academic stress, homesickness, and feeling overwhelmed.  Alongside this, I also work with young adults facing a range of emotional challenges. Discount offered to all students.

If you're struggling or simply need someone to talk to I'm here  to listen and support you.

I offer a free initial 10 minute telephone call.

Practice description

I work in a Person centred way, which means our sessions are led by you and what feels most important to bring to our sessions.  There is no pressure to have the 'right' words or to share more than you feel ready to, we will always go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Together, we can begin to make sense of what's going on, explore your thoughts and feelings and find ways to manage things more easily.  My aim is to support you in building greater understanding, confidence and a sense of being more able to cope with the challenges you're facing.

My first session

The first appointment is a full 50 minute session. This a great opportunity for us to meet each other and hopefully give you a sense of what counselling feels like.

I work from home in the heart of Southsea or I offer online sessions, whichever is best for you.

We discuss confidentiality and paperwork that is completed prior to the first session.  We can go through the paperwork answering any questions you may have regarding this.

Then, at your own pace, we will talk about what is bringing you to counselling along with any goals, changes or outcomes you might like to achieve.
