About me and my therapy practice
Hello, and a warm welcome to my profile. I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Counsellor working with teens and adults. My Practice is based in the beautiful rural village of Buchlyvie, Stirlingshire.
I help those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, or are finding life difficult. Evidence-based therapeutic techniques are sensitively woven into the sessions, which helps the client learn more about themselves, how their difficulties are maintained and how to work through them. I help people move towards and sustain more of the life they want.
Practice description
The first step can be the hardest, and I am dedicated to helping my clients feel supported on every step of their journey. Working together with the client, we develop a treatment plan that will meet their unique needs. I understand that the client is the expert in their own life; their thoughts, life experiece, losses, hopes. I use my knowledge of therapeutic techniques to help my client's out of their difficulties and into a life where they can flourish.
My first session
In the first couple of sessions, it is important to get to know the client and make space for them to share what has brought them to therapy.
In the first session I use three short intake forms which help me gauge the clients wellbeing, anxiety and depression levels. They provide a simple framework to start the therapy journey, and are often a springboard to deeper conversations. Many clients find these forms a welcome first step in the therapy process, as they gently guide the client into the session.
I then invite the client to share what has brought them to therapy. I understand that often the client needs the space to offload what difficulty they have been experiencing. It is important to me that the client leaves the first session knowing that they have been heard.
Sometimes it can feel as if we are alone and isolated with our problems, but just having someone to speak to is therapy in itself. I am ready to listen, come as you are, you will be met with kindness.
