About me and my therapy practice

I work collaboratively with clients, offering a safe, non-judgemental space where they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. My approach is primarily person-centred, meaning I place great importance on building a genuine, trusting relationship where you feel heard, valued, and understood. Alongside this, I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to help identify patterns in thinking and behaviour, and to support meaningful, practical change. With many years of experience, I have supported individuals facing anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, addiction, domestic abuse, and more recently, survivors of narcissistic abuse.

My work is always tailored to the individual, recognising that no two people are the same. I aim to help clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience, empowering them to make choices that align with their values.

My personal journey of being over 13 years sober also informs my work, particularly when supporting those affected by addiction. I bring empathy, honesty, and understanding to each session, alongside a belief in each person’s capacity for growth and change. I will walk alongside you, offering support, challenge, and encouragement as you move forward.

Practice description

When you come to counselling with me, you can expect a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, so I work at your pace and focus on helping you feel safe and comfortable from the very beginning.

My approach is person-centred and integrative, which means I will really listen to you and value your experience, while also offering practical tools from CBT where helpful. Together, we may explore patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, helping you to better understand yourself and make positive changes in your life.

I have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, and addiction, and I tailor my approach to suit your individual needs. I am empathetic, honest, and supportive, and I will gently challenge you when needed to support your growth.

Sessions are collaborative, and we will regularly review how things are going to ensure you are getting what you need from the process.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to decide whether I am the right therapist for you. We will talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you would like support with, and any goals you may have.

I may ask some gentle questions about your background, current situation, and any relevant history to help me understand you more fully. There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss, and we will work at your pace.

I will also explain how I work, including confidentiality and how sessions are structured, so you know what to expect moving forward. There will be time for you to ask any questions.

The first session is charged at my usual rate.
