About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming counsellor based in Cornwall, offering in-person sessions in Redruth and Falmouth, and online or telephone therapy across the UK.

When life is relentless, you can get stuck between racing thoughts and shutting down, always braced and unable to switch off. Crowds, queues and notifications add up, and even simple plans start to feel hard to face. If you are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or like you are masking your way through the day, therapy can help you reconnect to what matters and make things feel more manageable.

Perhaps your sleep is unsettled, motivation is low, and your mind keeps up a noisy, relentless commentary that is hard to switch off. Relationships can start to feel like hard work as you try to read what people want, meeting everyone else’s expectations while your own needs slide to the bottom of the list.

When life piles up like this, it can settle over you like a heavy cloud that dulls the things you used to enjoy and makes the day feel slow and effortful. You might notice yourself getting snappy and then slipping into doom scrolling late at night, drifting from people and feeling unsure what you feel or why. Even simple tasks can begin to feel like too much.

People often come to me feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious, or stuck in patterns that are hard to shift. You might feel on edge, shut down, quick to irritation, or weighed down by shame and self-doubt. Relationships can feel strained, and trauma or past experiences may still be affecting how you cope day to day.

My specialist interests include:

Autism

ADHD

Men’s mental health

Complex post-traumatic stress (CPTSD) and trauma

Recovery from abuse

Addiction recovery

These areas are often misunderstood or minimised in services, workplaces and sometimes even within families and friendships. If your experience does not fit a neat box, you are still welcome. What you are going through matters, and you will be met with understanding, not judgement.

Practice description

About me

I am a qualified MÂ鶹ԭ´´ counsellor and psychotherapist, and my path into this work began with my own healing. I grew up close to mental health difficulties and saw first hand the damage that judgement and silence can do. Before I trained as a therapist, I worked for many years in construction, which taught me the value of straight talking, practical support, and getting on with what matters.

Since qualifying, I have supported clients from many backgrounds in private practice, at a local college with young adults who have autism and ADHD, and through Victim Support with people who have witnessed trauma or lost someone because of it. These roles have deepened my skills and understanding. They have also taught me to be flexible and responsive to each person’s needs, to adapt the pace, to use plain language, and to offer practical steps that fit real life.

How It works

Therapy can be a space to reset and reflect. It is a place to understand your pain, restore balance, and strengthen how you cope. Getting support does not have to be scary, embarrassing, or hard to keep up with. We work at your pace and in plain language.

Sessions are tailored to you. Where it is helpful, I will suggest a simple, realistic step to try between sessions, so progress feels steady and part of everyday life.

What you can expect to change

Clients often tell me that when the heaviness has been their normal for a while, therapy helps them stop trying to please everyone else and start tuning back in to what they really need. Over time, they notice themselves saying no to what does not feel right, resting when they are tired instead of pushing through, and speaking up when something is unfair.

As confidence and self-trust grow, many people notice the noise in the mind turns down, their body feels calmer and less braced, boundaries improve, and decisions feel clearer. Life becomes more manageable. Not perfect, but more grounded and more yours.

My first session

Your first session is a chance to slow things down and begin making sense of what has been happening. We will talk about what is bringing you to therapy, what you are finding hardest right now, and what you would like to be different. You do not need to have the right words. You can bring whatever you have, and we will work it out together at your pace.

We will also agree how we will work together, including boundaries, confidentiality, and what you can expect from sessions. If it helps, you are welcome to start with a free initial consultation before booking a first session, so you can ask questions and decide whether I am the right therapist for you.
