About me and my therapy practice
I offer a safe, supportive counselling space where the relationship between us is at the heart of the work. I am a person-centred therapist and believe that feeling heard, understood and accepted is the foundation for meaningful change.
My work is informed by Transactional Analysis, including the I'm OK, You're OK philosophy and life script analysis, supporting clients to better understand themselves, their relationships ,and the patterns that shape their lives.
I work with attachment difficulties and developmental trauma, helping you make sense of how early experiences continue to shape your thoughts, feelings and behaviours today.
I practice relationally offering empathy and respect. I aim to provide warmth and steadiness, particularly when working with painful or complex experiences. At the same time I am not afraid to gently and respectively challenge patterns that may no longer be serving you , throwing light on insight and self awareness, instead.
I can use guided imagery and miniatures as creative and accessible ways of exploring feelings. Alongside this , psycho-education can be a valuable tool, helping clients make sense of their experiences and gain clarity.
I work through listening , seeing and feeling how a difficult experience has affected your life , and between us we develop a better understanding of your thoughts and behaviours. Ultimately aiming to develop a healthier relationship with yourself and others.
Practice description
I believe a ‘good match' between counsellor and client is key: So I offer an initial complementary (up to 30 minute), in person or online session to support this belief. It is gentle, exploratory and low pressure.
You are invited to describe what has brought to counselling and discuss what you hope to get from sessions.
This might be an invitation to book a session, or reflect before deciding, or if appropriate , a recommendation to seek a different type of support.
The overall tone is collaborative and respectful, reinforcing that counselling works best when both client and counsellor feel the relationship is right.
