About me and my therapy practice

Hi I’m Ann, an experienced counsellor. I work in-person and remotely with Adults from my home in Dunboyne Ireland. I work with a broad range of emotional, life, and relationship difficulties. I provide a non-judgemental, confidential space for you to talk. My focus will always be to listen to you and provide support and guidance in a warm and secure environment.

Many Issues can bring people to counselling including depression, anxiety, low mood, bereavement, navigating change, and feeling overwhelmed with life.  Reaching for help can feel like a big step for many people - so well done for taking the first step.  I will work alongside you to create a trusting therapeutic relationship where you can feel free and comfortable to explore whatever issues or difficulties you need to within our confidential relationship so you can reach a more fulfilling life.

Practice description

I mainly work in person from my home in Dunboyne, and online via Zoom as an integrative counsellor which means  I use a variety of approaches including Person-Centred,  Humanistic, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Transactional Analysis. This way of working allows me to be flexible in my approach and to work in a way that is intuitive, and can be adapted to meet your individual needs.

The focus of the work will be led by you, and I will work at your pace supporting you to understand yourself better, and use the space to explore whatever has taken you to therapy so we can look at the goals that you hope to achieve.  That said, therapy isn't just about goals.  Sometimes, the safety and consistency of a strong therapeutic relationship can be healing in itself.

My first session

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other.  I'll ask some questions to understand your background and what's brought you to therapy, though it's equally important that you get a feel for how I work and whether I'm the right fit for you.

I take a collaborative approach and welcome any questions you may have.  We'll also go through a counselling contract together, which covers details such as session structure, & confidentiality.  The session lasts for 50 minutes.

I offer you a free 20 minute no obligation telephone consultation to chat about the service I provide and the issues you are facing.  If you are happy to proceed we can then arrange an initial session to meet online or face to face.
