About me and my therapy practice

Feeling stuck in a loop you can’t break out of?

I offer counselling for individuals struggling with compulsive behaviours. Whether it's substances, alcohol, pornography, work, or other patterns that feel out of control. I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore what’s happening and begin the process of change.

Many repetitive patterns, whether with substances or behaviours, can be tied to shame, low self-worth, or difficulties in relationships. Because these experiences are often connected, I also support people who are facing stress, anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, or major life transitions.

Why me? Because I’ve faced these struggles too. I know how it feels to be stuck, and that change is possible. My experiences shape how I work, bringing professional training alongside an understanding of what it’s like to struggle. I don’t just rely on theory—I also draw on what I’ve learned through my own journey.

Practice description

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, holding a Postgraduate Qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Cumbria—an accredited training provider. Before establishing my private practice, I worked as a counsellor in colleges and recovery centres. I currently provide counselling for Red Rose Recovery, Kendal College, and Physicians Anonymous—a peer-support network for doctors facing burnout, stress, and related challenges.

Addiction and compulsive patterns are often tied to shame, anxiety, low self-esteem, or difficulties in relationships.

My person-centred approach recognises your inner resources for growth and change. Together we’ll explore emotions and patterns, discovering healthier ways forward. Our work is guided by the relationship, which research shows is key to transformation. When appropriate, I may offer simple tools to manage feelings and build resilience — always at your own pace

Change is not a straight path. Change can be difficult. There are things our chosen substance and behaviours give us—comfort, ease, relief—and we can’t ignore that. Nevertheless, in our sessions we can work together to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you would like to be.

Change doesn’t start with perfection – it starts with one honest step. If you’re ready, reach out and let’s talk.
