About me and my therapy practice

At some point in our lives, we may feel stuck or face certain challenges. Sometimes we know exactly what鈥檚 wrong and other times we may only have the nagging sense that something feels 鈥渙ff". Having the support of someone outside your usual world can help you gain clarity, understand what is happening, and find new ways of relating to yourself and others. Therapy can offer an opportunity to move beyond unhelpful patterns and beliefs, creating space for meaningful and lasting change.

I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist with an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent's University London. I work with people experiencing various emotional and life challenges including stress, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, addiction, bereavement, career and life transitions, sexuality and identity, ADHD, and neurodiversity. I have a particular clinical interest in complex trauma and extensive experience working with individuals from diverse and cross-cultural backgrounds.

My style is warm, empathetic, and gently challenging. I aim to support you in developing and using your own inner resources to manage the difficulties that have brought you to therapy, while also working collaboratively to explore any underlying patterns or roles you may find yourself repeating, which could be getting in the way of living a richer, more fulfilling life.

My experience includes counselling roles within the NHS and mental health charities, where I have supported clients presenting with a wide range of issues. Before training as a therapist, I worked in the corporate world across America and Europe, within both the finance and charity sectors, and also spent time as a stay-at-home mother. These varied experiences have enriched my empathy and deepened my understanding of the diverse life experiences clients may bring to therapy.

Practice description

As an integrative therapist, I have been trained in a range of psychotherapeutic approaches. This allows me to work holistically and tailor my way of working to fit your specific needs, recognising that each person鈥檚 experiences and challenges are unique. I draw on developmental, relational and analytic approaches looking at the patterns we get stuck in and how these relate to our past experiences.

My work is trauma-informed and somatically integrated, recognising the deep connection between mind and body, and the ways in which trauma and emotional experiences are often held physically. Emotions form a core part of who we are, and developing a deeper understanding of them can significantly improve your self-awareness and quality of life. While I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches, my work tends to focus on the here-and-now 鈥 paying attention not only to your past and what happens between sessions, but also to what emerges within the therapeutic space and in our relationship during sessions.

My practice is grounded in the belief that the therapeutic relationship 鈥攖he relationship between you and me鈥攊s the most powerful agent of change. This is important because research consistently shows that the most significant factor in a successful outcome is the relationship with the therapist鈥攚hat might be described as the experience of 鈥渇eeling felt.鈥 This can matter even more than the therapist鈥檚 training or the kind of therapy they do.

My first session

Many people wonder what it might be like to come to therapy. I view the first session as an opportunity for us to get to know one another and for you to experience what it is like to work with me. Feeling comfortable and safe is central to effective therapy, and it is important that you feel able to choose a therapist who feels right for you.

During the first session, we will explore your reasons for coming to therapy and discuss how we might work together. I may ask some questions about areas such as your family, relationships, work, and current circumstances. You are always invited to share only what feels comfortable. This helps build an understanding of your background and the context for our work together.

Where helpful, I may draw on reflective assessment tools to support our work together. These are used to gently explore how early life experiences may have shaped patterns of coping, relationships, and emotional responses. Any use of these tools is collaborative, optional, and guided by your pace, with a focus on understanding rather than labelling.

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process, which is why I offer a free 20-minute consultation, available online. This initial meeting gives us both the opportunity to get to know one another, ask any questions you may have, and explore whether working together feels like the right fit for you.

If you decide to proceed, I will ask you to read and sign a client agreement outlining the terms and conditions of our work together. I offer weekly sessions at an agreed time. Sessions are 50 minutes, with a 48-hour cancellation policy. The number of sessions will depend on your individual needs and circumstances.
