About me and my therapy practice
At times in life we can feel stuck, overwhelmed or unsure how to move forward. Talking with a trained therapist can provide a supportive space to explore what you are experiencing and begin to make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. My approach is warm, compassionate and tailored to you as an individual, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to support your unique needs.
Therapy can offer the opportunity to better understand yourself and discover new ways of coping and finding a way forward that feels right for you.
I work with adults facing a range of challenges, for example, anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties and the lasting impact of abuse or significant life events.
Taking the first step to contact a therapist can feel daunting, and I aim to make that process as comfortable as possible.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to ask any questions or arrange an initial conversation.
Practice description
Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. I aim to create a space where you feel heard, accepted and able to explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.
I work in a relational way, which means I believe that the relationship we build together in therapy is an important part of the healing process. Through a supportive, genuine and respectful connection, we can explore your experiences and the patterns that may be affecting your life.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life and experiences. Rather than offering advice or telling you what to do, I support you in exploring your thoughts and emotions so that you can develop greater self-understanding and find the way forward that feels right for you.
There is no pressure to make changes before you are ready. Therapy moves at your pace, and together we can explore what changes may feel achievable and helpful for you.
Therapy can be short-term or longer-term depending on your needs. Some people attend for around six weeks while others choose to work together for longer.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´) and hold their Certificate of Proficiency. I have a Master’s degree in Holistic Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Warwick and I am currently working towards accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy.
I have worked as a therapist in the charity sector, supporting people affected by cancer and other terminal illnesses, as well as their family members, and individuals experiencing addiction. My research focused on the experiences of family members affected by addiction, an area of particular interest in my work.
Prior to this I worked with individuals who had experienced physical, emotional and sexual abuse, giving me insight into the complex impact of trauma and the challenges many face navigating the judicial system.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute introductory session. This gives us the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from it, and whether we feel comfortable working together.
We can also discuss practical matters such as whether online or face-to-face sessions would suit you best and answer any questions you may have.
If you decide you would like to proceed, I will send you a written counselling agreement for you to review before beginning sessions.
