Availability
I provide face to face sessions in Barnstaple, North Devon, or online sessions via Teams for those who prefer or live further afield.
My sessions are during the day Monday - Friday, or I can offer online sessions some evenings after 7:30pm. All sessions are subject to availability, but I aim to be as flexible as possible.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer warmth and empathy in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for you to tell me your story. The aim is for us to work together to explore your emotions, your patterns, and your experiences that have formed you. This can help you to understand yourself more and enable you to work through the tougher moments. I will listen to you with understanding and acceptance, but I will also gently challenge you to look deeper into yourself to encourage the growth of your personal self-understanding and acceptance.
I have experience working with and am fully qualified to counsel for feelings surrounding life's complexities: Anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss and low self-esteem among others. Feelings from any of these presenting issues can cause confusion, upset, anger and stress and more. It can be hard to speak to those around you for fear of not being understood or being judged or making others feel bad. That's why I offer a safe space to talk about the things you normally can't express, so you can be yourself, let it out and start to find some acceptance or understanding.
I also have further experience and training in ADHD, and counselling around pregnancy for women and men: Pre or post-natal, infertility, baby loss, birth trauma, or Hyperemesis Gravidarum
Practice description
Whether face to face in Barnstaple, or online, sessions are 60 minutes long. I am a person centred counsellor, with an integrative humanistic approach, so I can pull from a range of theories to suit you and what you are going through.
I will not contract you into a certain amount of sessions - you are free to start, pause or stop as you please, although I personally recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions to get the most from counselling.
I am fully insured and a registered member of the Â鶹Դ´. I also have regular supervision inline with the Â鶹Դ´ ethical framework.
My first session
I feel that it is important for the client to feel comfortable with the counsellor to get the most out of counselling. For this reason, I offer a free 20 minute telephone call to have an informal chat, to get to know each other a little, and find out if we think we can work with each other. I also find this helps with the first session, as there is already a sense of familiarity formed - the ice is already broken.
What I can help with
ADD / ADHD, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Depression, Health related issues, Infertility, Loss, Men's issues, Mood disorder, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues

Although I'm based in North Devon, I know how strongly some people feel about confidentiality, and worry the counsellor could know people they are talking about, so I feel that a counsellor from another area can be beneficial to some.
