About me and my therapy practice
My name is Andrew Ward a Â鶹Դ´-accredited integrative therapist based in Hove, East Sussex. I am committed to providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for my clients. I always strive to ensure they and their individual needs are at the centre of the work so I try to remain as flexible as possible. I can offer sessions in-person, from my centrally located therapy space in Hove, within their own homes, or online.
My integrative training allows me to tailor my approach to fit the unique needs of each of my clients, and I work with an international client base spanning all ages, from teenagers to 60+.
My work and approach draws on many years of varied life experience. I having been involved in competitive sports and held Director roles in both the property and media sectors before embarking on this therapy 'chapter' of my career. I have also worked extensively in many areas of the world with a mix of cultures which I feel helps me understand and connect readily with my varied client base.
I would relish the prospect of helping you work through whatever it is you feel may be holding you back or whatever is troubling you. I am trauma informed and have experience of working across a wide range of issues including:
• Stress (inc. all aspects of minority stress)
• Anger
• Self-Acceptance / Low self-esteem
• Sexuality issues
• LGBTQ issues (inc. Transitioning issues)
• Relationship and Intimacy Issues
• Anxiety
• Work related issues (incl. work place stress, redundancy, career change and retirement transitioning)
• Shame
• Bullying
• Relationship issues
• Porn Addiction
• Sex addiction
• Love addiction
• Depression
Practice description
I use an integrative approach which incorporates elements of person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, transactional analysis, emotion-focused, and compassion-focused therapy. I integrate different approaches to best serve the needs of my individual clients in a 'seemless' way to ensure they achieve the maximum benefit and help from our sessions.
I am motivated by a desire to help each of my clients to become 'fully functioning' whilst starting to live their true 'authentic lives'. It is always a privilege to help my clients break 'free' from the issues that have been holding them back from leading 'happy and fulfilling' lives and a pleasure to accompany them on their journey to realising their true potential.
I firmly believe it is the power of the 'relationship' that's formed between us that will become the most important component in our work. My preference is to work in a fluid 'open-ended' manner. I leave it to my clients to decide how many sessions they want, but I always advise that six sessions should be seen as a minimum commitment.
My first session
I offer a free confidential 30 min phone call to give you a clearer idea of how I work and for us both to gauge if we feel we are a good 'fit' and see if we wish to work together. If we decide to proceed I will send across a contract for you to look over. I will then answer any questions you have via e-mail before our first session. In the first session I will talk through the key elements of our contract and conduct a client assessment to enable me to assess risk and formulate a plan for our time together.
