Where do you even start?
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you're not sure where to begin. With so many therapists offering different approaches, it’s hard to know what’s best for you. Hi, I’m Lauren, a counsellor/psychotherapist (these terms are often used interchangeably), and I work with individuals and with two people — in person, over the phone, and online — helping them navigate a range of challenges.
I work with relationships in all their forms. This might mean romantic couples, but also siblings, parents and adult children, friends, or any other meaningful connection that feels strained, stuck, or in need of support. Therapy isn’t just for couples — it’s for any relationship where two people want to understand each other better and move forward differently.
I’m trained as a person-centred counsellor, which simply means I focus on you and what you need. I won’t push you to talk about things you’re not ready for, and there’s no set agenda in our sessions. The space I provide is for you to express yourself freely and start to understand your feelings and experiences at your own pace.
I know that choosing the right therapist can be daunting, especially if you’ve never tried therapy before. The most important thing is finding someone you feel comfortable with. If you don’t feel safe or able to trust the person you're working with, therapy won’t be as effective. That’s why I offer a free, no-obligation introductory call (I really do mean no obligation at all). This gives us a chance to chat about how I work, what you’re looking for, and whether we might be a good fit.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Lauren, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist.

I am trained in the person-centred approach, which means our work together is entirely client-led. My role is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can explore whatever feels important to you. If you’re feeling lost or stuck, I’ll sit with you in those feelings, and together, we’ll navigate a way forward.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent 12 years working in dentistry—a career that gave me a solid grounding in biology, physiology, and how the body responds to stress and disease. Over time, I developed a deep interest in how trauma can affect both the body and mind, often in unique and unexpected ways. This curiosity led me to pursue a master’s in counselling and psychotherapy, where I focused my research on how emotional trauma can manifest as physical symptoms, specifically in chronic conditions like Fibromyalgia.
That experience profoundly shaped my understanding of trauma and strengthened my desire to support others in their healing journey.
Since qualifying, I have worked with individuals to explore the challenges and traumatic experiences they bring to therapy. I have also undertaken additional training in Trauma-Informed Therapy to deepen my ability to support clients in processing their experiences with care and sensitivity.
Whether you identify your experiences as trauma or simply feel that talking to someone in a confidential, supportive space could help, I am here to listen. I believe in tailoring therapy to your needs, always working at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
