About me and my therapy practice

I offer in-person counselling for adults at my peaceful space in Bourne End. I aim to help you get back to ‘you’. Life can be so challenging and noisy at times that we stop hearing our inner voice. Whatever issue is stealing your peace, we can explore your thoughts and feelings together without pressure, sifting out the noise and helping you gain clarity. You will be heard, supported and accepted as you are. I am a fellow human with life experience and know how challenging it can be. Warmth and empathy are my most valuable tools.

Being a musician and a counsellor, I am passionate about helping people reconnect with their creativity, in whatever form (not just music). Alongside counselling I run a ‘Music for Wellbeing’ service, involving singing activities with local Alzheimers/Dementia groups and care homes. I have close interaction with patients and carers through singing together and talking together. I therefore have a special interest in counselling families of Alzheimers/Dementia patients, but I welcome people with different issues into my practice.

I especially welcome musicians and performing artists who struggle with such issues as performing anxiety, burnout, lack of confidence, stressful experiences or wanting help to find your creativity.

My earlier career was in Arts education, involving pastoral care and mentoring of pupils and staff.

I view life as a flowing river and we are all swimmers in that river. We are never in the same water at any point in our lives. Our surroundings or closest people may appear constant, but our circumstances, others' circumstances and our emotions are constantly changing and we need to keep swimming. Sometimes we become stuck and ensnarled on obstacles on our path, other times the current can overwhelm us and pull us under. Sometimes we become tired and feel unable to go on.

I endeavour to empower you to find your flow again, helping you unburden yourself and find your own inner resources to move forward and embrace your life.

Practice description

I practice from my peaceful, cosy and private space in Bourne End. There is ample on-street parking free of charge.

I offer a free telephone chat (up to 20 mins) where we can discuss your requirements and answer any questions you may have.

From there, you can decide if you would like to go ahead with face to face counselling and I will send you a working agreement to look at prior to our session for your approval. In our first session, we can decide on an appropriate timescale for your counselling.
