About me and my therapy practice

Art Psychotherapy • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy • Talking Therapy • Trauma & Attachment Specialist

Welcome to City Solace Psychotherapy. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space for adults and young people. My work is trauma-informed and attachment-focused, supporting clients to understand themselves more deeply, heal emotional wounds, and develop greater resilience and self-connection.

Since qualifying in 2009, I have worked across the NHS, education, domestic violence organisations, mental health services, post-adoption support, and private practice. These experiences have shaped a grounded, compassionate and relational way of working that recognises the complexity and uniqueness of each person’s story.

Clients often come to therapy struggling with:

  • trauma
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • low self-esteem
  • identity issues
  • relationship/attachment difficulties
  • grief/loss
  • sensitivity
  •  sense of overwhelm or disconnection
  • adoption related issues

My practice is inclusive and affirming of all races, genders, sexual orientations, and neurodiverse identities. I aim to create a therapeutic relationship in which you can feel seen, understood and supported to move towards lasting change. I also offer dyadic work (parent–child therapy) to help strengthen attachment, emotional attunement and communication.

At the heart of my practice is a belief in each person’s capacity for healing and growth when given the right conditions of safety, curiosity and connection.

Practice description

My practice integrates Art Psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS), offered either as stand-alone therapies or woven together, depending on your needs. Sessions are collaborative and paced with care, allowing you to explore at a depth that feels safe and manageable.

IFS supports you in understanding your internal world as a system of ‘parts’, each holding its own emotions, beliefs and protective roles. These may include anxious, angry, avoidant or overwhelmed parts. Through gentle exploration, these parts can be heard, understood and relieved of past burdens, allowing your core Self—calm, clear and connected—to play a greater role in your life.

Art Psychotherapy offers a creative and embodied way of accessing feelings and experiences that may be difficult to express in words. No artistic skill is required; the process is simply another language for exploration, insight and integration. Imagery can help regulate emotions, unlock memories, and bring clarity to complex internal experiences. I can offer prompts or themes to guide the work when helpful.

Depending on you or your childs needs, I may also draw on:
    • Inner Child Work,
    • EFT,
    • Mindfulness,
    • Somatic Tracking
    • PACE model to support emotional regulation, reflection and integration.
    • Parenting strategies

Clients often describe therapy as a space that brings greater clarity, confidence, self-compassion and a stronger sense of self. My intention is to support you in developing the understanding and healing you need for lasting change.

    My first session

I offer a free 20-minute discovery call to start, which allows you to ask questions, discuss what you are hoping for, and get a sense of how I work.

If you feel we would be a good fit then we would arrange a consultation. This is a 50 min one off session to allow us explore what brings you to therapy and to consider whether we feel like a good fit. I will invite you to share whatever feels comfortable. There is no pressure to go into difficult material straight away; the focus is on establishing safety, clarity and a pace that feels right for you.

We will also identify what goals you are wanting to focus on and I will share a little more about how we will work together.

Following the consultation, if all feels right for you, we would then begin therapy. We begin with 6 sessions that are more of an assessment (look and see) period to get an idea of what is going on for you. We may use themes to introduce the art making or we will sit and talk, I am really guided by you. I may introduce aspects of IFS or Art Psychotherapy to help us understand your internal landscape and what you would like support with.

We then will review together to reflect and make sure you are happy with how we are working. I build in regular reviews to create opportunities to stay working in partnership and to offer a transparent space to reflect on the therapy.

For those with trauma histories or attachment-based difficulties, we will pay particular attention to regulation, consent and choice, ensuring that the process respects your nervous system and boundaries as we begin the therapeutic journey
