About me and my therapy practice

At times, life can feel unsettled, overwhelming, or difficult to manage. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, challenges in your relationships, or pressure at work. It can feel hard to know where to turn, and reaching out for support is often the first step towards change.

I work with individuals in a compassionate and supportive way, offering a calm and confidential space where you can explore what you are going through at your own pace. I am a neuro-affirmative counsellor, which means I respect and value the different ways people think, feel, and experience the world. My role is not to judge or to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as we explore your difficulties together.

My approach is integrative. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques to support people in managing anxiety and low mood, offering practical strategies for dealing with unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. Alongside this, I draw on psychodynamic approaches to explore how your past experiences may shape your feelings and patterns in the present. By combining practical tools with deeper exploration, we can address both immediate challenges and underlying causes.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over 30 years working at a senior level in industry, both in London and abroad. This gives me a unique understanding of workplace stress and the ways in which professional pressures can affect wellbeing, relationships, and self-esteem.

I believe counselling is a collaborative process. Each person鈥檚 journey is unique, and together we will find an approach that feels right for you. If you are feeling anxious, low, or simply in need of space to reflect, I would be glad to support you in finding greater clarity, resilience, and hope.

Practice description

I understand that choosing a counsellor is an important and sometimes daunting decision. To help you feel confident about taking that first step, I offer a free 30-minute consultation, which can take place in person, online, or by phone. This initial meeting gives us both a chance to get to know one another and to see if working together feels right for you, before any commitment is made.

I do not ask clients to commit to a fixed number of sessions. Everyone鈥檚 journey is different. Some people find that just a few sessions are enough to explore a particular issue or gain clarity on a situation, while others value ongoing support and choose to work with me over a longer period, sometimes for years. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes and begins on the hour. I offer a calm, comfortable, and confidential environment where you can speak openly about what is on your mind. My rooms in Battersea and Clapham are welcoming and private, with refreshments available to help you feel at ease. For those who prefer remote sessions, I also provide online counselling via secure video platforms, as well as telephone sessions if that feels more convenient.

Whichever way we work together, my aim is to provide a safe, supportive space where you feel listened to and understood. I bring warmth, compassion, and professional experience to each session, while tailoring my approach to your individual needs. You can expect to be treated with respect and care as we explore your challenges and work towards greater clarity, resilience, and wellbeing.

My first session

Before your first session, I will ask you to read and sign a client agreement. This document outlines my professional qualifications, the boundaries of confidentiality, and my commitment to ethical practice in line with the 麻豆原创 Ethical Framework. It also sets out my terms and conditions. Depending on your circumstances, I may ask you to complete a short, industry-standard questionnaire to help quantify your mood or level of anxiety. This can be repeated in later sessions to track any changes and measure progress.

During the first session itself, we will start by discussing the issues that have brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve. I aim to make this session as comfortable and reassuring as possible, and you are welcome to share only what feels right for you. One of the guiding principles of my work is Autonomy, meaning you are in control of what you bring to each session and the pace at which we work.

If we are using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), particularly effective for anxiety, we will explore the focus of your worries, how they affect you, and any strategies you already use to manage them. I will also explain what a typical CBT treatment plan looks like, including any practical exercises or 鈥渉omework鈥 to support your progress.

For those who benefit from a psychodynamic approach, we will begin to explore past experiences and consider how they may be connected to your current challenges. Throughout, my aim is to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space, helping you feel supported and understood from the very first session.
