About me and my therapy practice
I’m a psychotherapist with a MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck College, University of London. I am registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹Դ´).
I work with adults of all ages and all backgrounds. You may be experiencing some form of emotional difficulty or distress, anxiety and or depression, or want to explore some aspect of your life. You might have experienced loss, such as bereavement or divorce, or are going through a life transition such as moving or the menopause.
I began my professional career as an osteopath in the late 1990s. Fascinated by the way stress manifests in the body as physical pain, I specialised in the connection between the mind and body, and developed a special interest in mental health and wellbeing. Having worked in the NHS, voluntary sector and private practice, I trained as a psychotherapist and began my practice at Mid-Sussex Counselling Centre.
Practice description
I offer 50 minute sessions weekly on a long or short term basis. At our first appointment, we can talk about what brings you to therapy and decide if my approach is suitable for you.
My training is psychodynamic which uses concepts based on psychoanalysis, and provides a non-judgmental space where you can talk about whatever is on your mind. We will work together to gain insight into your difficulties and explore how they might link to past experiences, sometimes rooted in childhood. Gaining insight can help you to know yourself better and can reduce feelings of anxiety and depression over time.
