About me and my therapy practice
Children & Young People/ Adult Therapy.
I am a qualified counsellor with experience working in both school settings and private practice. I currently work as a school counsellor supporting children and young people, and I have recently set up my therapy practice where I offer counselling to both children and adults.
I am trained in child therapy, which often involves longer-term work to support children with emotional challenges such as attachment difficulties, separation anxiety, suicidal thoughts, parental divorce, bullying, low self-esteem, identity struggles, anxiety, emotional outbursts, withdrawn behaviour, bereavement, and life transitions like changing schools. I use creative methods, including play therapy, to help younger children express themselves in a way that feels natural and safe. It’s been incredibly rewarding to witness the positive and transformative changes that can occur through this work.
My core approach is person-centred, placing great value on building a trusting, empathic, and non-judgmental relationship. I believe that, with the right support, people can understand themselves and make positive changes. Alongside my person-centred foundation, I also draw on solution-focused techniques to support clients in identifying goals and practical steps forward, when appropriate.
Practice description
I offer a calm and confidential space where you can feel heard, respected, and supported, whatever challenges you may be facing. The goal of therapy is to support you in developing greater self-awareness and a stronger sense of self. This deeper understanding can empower you to make more positive and meaningful changes in your life.
I specialise in helping clients explore and work through a range of issues, including: Anxiety and Stress, Low mood and depression, self-esteem and identity, school-related challenges for young people, life transitions, relationship difficulties, marriage breakdowns, loss and bereavement, eating disorders, trauma, health issues and general stress management.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute consultation, as I believe finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. This initial meeting allows you to ask questions and share what you’d like to focus on in therapy.
Our first full session (50 minutes) will include going through our counselling agreement and discussing how sessions will work moving forward. I’ll also take time to explain the therapeutic process in more detail and begin to understand your individual needs.
Home visits may be available depending on your location. However, an additional fee may apply. This can be discussed during the consultation or at our first session.
