About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy is a significant step. Finding the right therapist is key and can make all the difference. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in repeating patterns, or unsure why certain emotions keep surfacing, I offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings with curiosity rather than judgment.
I am a compassionate and experienced psychodynamic counsellor, registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council and British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
In Psychodynamic Counselling we work with the unconscious to bring about a more coherent understanding of the self. Many difficulties remain unconscious and are often linked to our early life experiences and relationships. These patterns may become more conscious through the process of therapy so that they can be thought and talked about to gain a deeper understanding and enable a new way of seeing things.
Our past experiences influence how we relate to ourselves and others, but they don’t have to define us. Through therapy, we can make sense of your struggles, understand emotional roadblocks, and create space for lasting change. Whether you're facing anxiety, relationship difficulties, or a sense of being ‘stuck,’ we’ll work together to unpack things and give you the space to say whatever is on your mind to bring about a deeper understanding and greater sense of clarity.
Practice description
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I work with you to uncover the deeper layers of your thoughts, emotions, and relationships—often shaped by past experiences in ways we might not fully realise. By use of free association, we enable these patterns to come into awareness so that we can understand how they impact your present life and begin to create meaningful change.
My first session
I offer a free introductory phone call to find out what you would like from therapy and explore whether psychodynamic therapy is right for you. If the fit feels right, we will have an initial session to get a sense of your history and what brings you to therapy, with the opportunity to reflect on your therapy. This session is £30. If we decide to work together we will arrange to meet once a week for 50 minutes, at the same time, and think together about what feels right in terms of the length and frequency of therapy.
