About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative humanistic counselling psychotherapist offering individual and couples therapy to adults aged 19–65, including LGBTQIA+ clients. My practice focuses on depression, anxiety and stress, relationship difficulties, trauma (including childhood sexual abuse), disordered eating, and complex life transitions. I tailor treatment using a holistic, person-centred foundation that integrates humanistic, psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)-informed techniques.

I work with professionals and creatives in demanding environments (notably the music/arts industry) who need an understanding ally to navigate performance pressure, burnout, and career transitions. I also support clients dealing with trauma, anxiety, attachment injuries, disordered eating, some addictions, and life-stage challenges. I am comfortable working with individuals and couples across diverse backgrounds and identities, and I actively welcome work with clients from the LGBTQIA+ community.

Background and perspective: I spent 20 years in Germany, including a decade as an artist manager in the music industry. My professional background also includes practising law and further experience in related fields. I served as a Practice Manager for a Private Psychiatric clinic in London. This provides me with a multidisciplinary perspective on legal, managerial, and healthcare-related challenges, along with a practical understanding of the creative and therapeutic sectors, insight into high-pressure professional environments, team dynamics, and creative careers. I understand how industry demands, toxic work environment, burnout risks, and financial stress can affect mental health, and I bring that understanding into my clinical work with sensitivity and practical relevance.

Practice description

My qualifications in psychology and law have given me a deep understanding of human behaviour and the legal impacts on individuals’ lives. Building on this, I specialise in Integrative Humanistic Psychotherapy, offering a holistic approach that considers the whole person—their feelings, environment, and aspirations.

My experience includes community health work and UK-wide low-cost counselling services, working with diverse populations and learning the importance of accessible, culturally sensitive support. As a practice manager at a private psychiatric clinic, I gained insights into ethical standards and creating a safe space for clients, strengthening my commitment to compassionate care.

My legal background in music management and contract law provides a unique perspective. As a lawyer and artist manager, I honed skills in communication, negotiation, and managing interpersonal relationships—skills that enhance my therapeutic approach. I understand the pressures of busy professional environments, which can lead to stress and anxiety, and I aim to help clients develop resilience and strategies for change.

I offer therapy online and in person, adapting to the client’s needs and preferences.

My first session

During the initial session, I focus on establishing a comprehensive understanding of the client's background to create a safe and supportive environment.  I begin by gathering relevant personal history, including family background, childhood experiences, and any significant life events that may influence the client's current situation.  This helps to identify patterns, strengths, and areas of growth.

I also explore any present issues or challenges that have brought the client to therapy.  This includes understanding their reasons for seeking support, their current emotional state, and any immediate concerns.  Together, we discuss the client's goals for therapy, ensuring that these are clear, realistic, and tailored to the client's individual needs.

A vital part of the sessions involves explaining the confidentiality of therapy, outlining the limits (such as risk of harm to self or others, or legal requirements), and emphasising the. importance of trust and openness.  I aim to create. a. non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings.

The initial session sets the foundation for the therapeutic journey, fostering a collaborative relationship built on understanding, respect, and shared goals.
