About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I鈥檓 an integrative counsellor working online with adults. I run my own private practice and alongside this I also teach counselling students, supporting the next generation of therapists as they develop their skills and professional identity. My background is in psychology, which continues to influence and inform the way I understand people, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.
People often come to counselling at a point in life where something feels difficult, confusing, or overwhelming. Sometimes there is a clear reason for this, such as a loss, a relationship difficulty, anxiety, or a period of change. At other times people simply have a sense that something isn鈥檛 quite right, or that patterns in their life keep repeating in ways that are painful or frustrating.
Whatever brings you to therapy, my aim is to offer a safe, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space where you can begin to explore your experiences and make sense of what is happening for you.
Starting counselling can feel like a big step. Many people feel uncertain about where to begin or whether therapy is right for them. My approach is to meet you where you are, working at a pace that feels comfortable, and creating a space where you can speak openly without fear of being judged or rushed.
Practice description
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you are unsure what to expect or worried about opening up. Your first session is simply a chance for us to meet, talk things through, and see whether working together feels right for you.
You do not need to arrive with everything figured out or know exactly what to say. Some people come with a clear idea of what they want to explore, while others just know that life feels heavy, confusing, or difficult to manage. Both are completely okay. We can begin wherever you are.
My aim is to create a relaxed, supportive space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely listened to. There is no pressure to share everything straight away, and you will not be judged, rushed, or pushed into talking about anything before you feel ready.
During the first session, we can explore what has brought you to counselling, what you may be hoping for, and any questions or concerns you have. I will also explain how I work, including confidentiality, boundaries, and what sessions usually look like, so you feel informed and comfortable.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and person-centred. This means I work alongside you at your pace, with empathy, honesty, and respect for your choices.
If you are thinking about counselling but feel unsure, that is completely natural. The first step does not have to feel perfect. It just has to be a beginning.
My first session
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you are not sure what to expect or whether it will feel right for you. My aim in the first session is to help you feel as comfortable, safe and at ease as possible.
You do not need to arrive with the 鈥渞ight words鈥 or a perfectly clear reason for coming. Some people know exactly what they want to talk about. Others just know that life feels heavy, confusing, painful or difficult to manage. Both are completely okay. We can begin wherever you are.
The first session is simply a chance for us to meet and gently explore what has brought you to counselling. There is no pressure to share everything straight away, and you will never be pushed into talking about something before you feel ready. You set the pace.
I will also explain how counselling works, including confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect from sessions, so you feel informed and in control of the process. You are welcome to ask questions at any point.
Just as importantly, this session gives you the chance to get a feel for me and whether I am the right counsellor for you. Feeling safe, respected and genuinely listened to matters. Counselling works best when you feel you can be yourself without judgement.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and person-centred. That means I will not tell you who to be, rush you, judge you, or assume I know what is best for you. Instead, I will work alongside you with empathy, honesty and respect, helping you explore what feels important at a pace that feels right.
If you are thinking about counselling but feel unsure, that is okay too. The first step does not have to be perfect. It just has to be a beginning.
