About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Emma. I work with adults, teenagers (12–17) and relationships (couples or other such as parent and child or adult siblings)Many people reach out when they’re finding life overwhelming or difficult to navigate on their own. That might be stress at work or school, relationship struggles, or simply feeling stuck and unsure what to do next.

I’m not here to tell you what to do. My role is to listen, help you untangle what feels overwhelming, and support you as you decide on the steps that feel right for you. What matters most is that you feel safe and understood.

Practice description

I work with adults, young people and couples on a range of challenges, such as anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, struggles with self-esteem or identity, and the impact of past experiences. Whatever you bring, my aim is that you feel supported, understood and truly heard as we explore it together at your pace.

Sessions take place in my peaceful garden room, a calm and confidential space away from everyday pressures. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, which gives you chance to get a sense of me and whether we might be a good fit. Finding the right therapist is important, and if you’re looking for someone with empathy and a down-to-earth approach, I’d be glad to support you in your growth, whether individually or as a couple.

My first session

Coming to counselling for the first time can feel daunting, so I aim to make that first session as relaxed and supportive as possible. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other and to talk about what has brought you to therapy. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable, there’s no pressure to have everything worked out straight away.

I’ll explain how I work, answer any questions you might have, and together we’ll start to get a sense of what you’d like to focus on. The pace is led by you. Some people find it helpful to set goals, others prefer to take things session by session. There’s no right or wrong way, and we’ll work in the way that feels best for you.

The first session is really about building a safe and trusting space, so that you leave feeling comfortable about working with me, and with a sense of hope for the journey ahead.
