About me and my therapy practice

I have completed 5 years of training at The Minster Centre. As an integrative counsellor, I use different models of working including psychodynamic, humanistic, relational and body psychotherapy.Me qualifications are described here:

• Diploma in Integrative Counselling from The Minster Centre, a leading institution in Integrative Psychotherapy.

• BSc Biochemistry

• Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Nutrition.

• I have worked with several low cost therapy services offering time-limited and long term therapy.

• Specialised in inter-cultural therapy at a leading low-cost service.

My work focuses on helping you to explore your emotional experience, and to uncover how early life events may inform your current ways of being. Whether your goal is to make positive changes in certain aspects of your life, or to work through difficult experiences and feelings, I offer a space to think with someone without judgement. It's normal to experience low mood sometimes, but when it becomes a constant, low mood, anxiety, over-thinking can be exhausting. Working through old behaviour patterns that no longer help you, and understanding your past, can open the door to self-acceptance and healing. This leads to stronger relationships and a more fulfilling, enjoyable life.

I have worked extensively with people juggling more than one culture. I can help you to work through the complexities of generational cultural issues, as well as building self-esteem and self-confidence. My own experience in therapy allowed me to explore how cultural and societal influences come to shape identity and sense of self.

If you do decide to reach out, I welcome you to a supportive and collaborative space where we can talk about the issues you want to work through. In our first session, I will explain a little more about how I work but mostly, this is an opportunity for me to better understand what brings you to therapy and for you to decide if this would work for you.

Practice description

As an integrative counsellor, I use different models of working including psychodynamic, humanistic, relational and body psychotherapy.

I work with adults of all ages and can accommodate in-person or online sessions; occasionally, a blended model can suit work schedules and busy life-styles.

My clinical experience covers a range of issues including, anxiety, depression, loneliness, relationship issues, ADHD, low self-esteem, stress, trauma, cultural pressures, identity, belonging, racial trauma, childhood trauma, attachment issues, bereavement, menopause, Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

I have a special interest in making sense of growing up as part of more than one culture, belonging, and issues of race and diversity.

After our first session, you can decide whether you want time-limited therapy for a fixed number of sessions or a more open-ended approach. Either is fine, and we can discuss this in more detail in our first session.

Sessions last 50 minutes.

I welcome clients from all different backgrounds, and endeavour to hold difference and diversity in mind. I mainly work in English but I have proficient Hindi to be able to work with non-English speaking adults in Hindi and Urdu.

I work from three different locations in West London and also online.

My first session

In the first session, I will ask you to describe in more detail, the issues that bring you to therapy and your goals for therapy. We will talk a little about family and relevant medical history, and I will explain the contractual details.

I hope the first session will gave you an experience of the safe, confidential and unjudgemental space that I endeavour to provide.

I would then suggest that you have a think about whether you want to continue, and we can then agree a weekly time to meet.
