About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Will. I am deeply passionate and curious about supporting people to understand themselves on a deeper level, and helping people to live the lives they want to lead.

I'm a humanistic counsellor, I believe that counselling is versatile, it can be a vital support to manage a crisis, it can equally be a powerful self-development resource to improve your life, and it offers tools to enable you to live well or mindfully.

Therapy is unique to each person, and how I work changes in response to you, the most important thing is our relationship. I work with keen attention to curiosity and compassion which can support the expansion of your awareness to change your life in the direction you want it to go, and hold your issues with the care it requires. As we build a relationship I can offer ideas, exercises, theories, or challenges to integrate the work into your daily life.

I want to make sure you get the most out of your time with me, and part of my process includes understanding how you would like to work.

Why am I a therapist?

When I was growing up I didn’t know how to handle many of the issues I encountered, I struggled for a long time to enjoy my life, and I didn't know I could change this.

Therapy supported me to break my historic cycles and patterns. I now live the life I want to lead, rather than the life I felt was given to me. It is now my privilege to offer this to others.

How do I work?

I work humanistically with the interconnected nature of the mind, body and more. I believe you are the expert on you, and my job is to understand you from your perspective. I can offer perspective, challenges, exercises, ideas and theories to support you to grow or change. 

I am also influenced by Jung and Jungian shadow work. 'Shadow' meaning the parts of us we hide, repress, and deny that often drive the behaviours and patterns in our lives.

Practically, our work may involve talking, working with body language and movement, and the connection between mind, body and more to understand your issues. These can be practical exercises, as well as takeaway ideas to try in your life outside of our sessions.

I want you to feel capable to deal with those issues without me, in your own way. Autonomy is very important in my practice, and everything I offer is an invitation.


Do I specialise in anything?

I believe everyone should understand how to feel OK and I am open to meeting anyone. 

I do have a particular passion for men's work, men’s mental health, male identity, & work around gender. 

This is useful regardless of your biological sex or gender - for example many of my non-binary and female clients have experiences that relate to men/masculinity and working with them with the appropriate understanding and language around this has been transformative.


How do we begin?

To begin we would meet for an initial session of 50 minutes.

Counselling sessions with me would last 50 minutes. I operate a sliding scale for pricing, see my website.

I am based in Cambridge, UK, at 8AKP on Kings Parade.

My first session

To begin we would meet for an initial session of 50 minutes, and decide there if we wish to work together, and how.

Whether you’ve had therapy before or if this is your first time, an initial session enables us to get to know one another and assess if we are the right fit. This session includes me asking a range of questions about your life, your past, and your habits. This isn’t a standard therapy session, more of an introduction.

To work with you effectively, I need to understand where you are coming from, why you are seeking therapy, and whether we fit. Equally as important, this is a chance for you to get a sense of me, and if you feel I am right for you.

I may ask you to fill out some forms prior to, or during this session. These will be explained fully when sent.

Initial sessions cost £42.
