About me and my therapy practice

As a person-centred counsellor, I work with individuals to explore challenges within their lives. This may include talking with a person about their experiences, values, behaviours, emotions, relationships and where they feel they are in their world. This may also include elements of CBT and psychoeducation, also working creatively with an array of arts and crafts materials and playing games - this can enable a client to feel more relaxed.

I aim to build trusting relationships with clients, which helps empower them to take ownership of their mental health and wellbeing.

It is important to me that I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for clients, as this is essential for them to be able to communicate those things they struggle with.

I am a Registered member of my professional association, The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´), whose ethical principles and values I strive to uphold and which underpins my work, enabling me to provide a safe and professional practice.

My qualifications include a CPCAB Level 4 diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and CPCAB Level 5 in Counselling Children and Young People. I also hold an array of CPD certificates including STORM training, working with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, counselling neurodivergent clients, working inclusively with the LGBTQ+ community, GSRD training, regular safeguarding training, infant loss awareness, CSA awareness, continuing CPD around diversity, equity and inclusion, understanding domestic abuse and more.

Practice description

My practice is in Kettering, at Glebe farm, which is located off Junction 7, A14, NN16 8XF. Parking is available free onsite.

The Therapy Space, is situated in the Glebe Farm complex - In the same place as Glebe Farm Tea Rooms (https://www.glebefarmshopandtearoom.co.uk/)

It has access for wheelchair users and plenty of parking. It is also a welcoming, spacious and comfortable environment for clients to be creative or be able to talk while cozied up with a blanket.

Sessions are charged by the hour and can be delivered either face to face or online via Zoom.

Although my specialism is working with young people I also work with adults (especially those who may have a late diagnosis of ADHD/ASD) and have a special interest in working with the LGBTQ+ and Neurodivergent communities.

I have many years of experience working with children and young people across many settings. Most recently I have worked within a secondary school setting supporting students who couldn't access the classroom for various reasons. I also work for a local charity providing counselling and mental health support to young people between the ages of 11-25. I believe that young people and adults alike need allies and a place for support when needed.

My first session

I believe it is important for you to feel that we can work together. I aim to offer a safe space for you to explore your difficulties and understand what may have brought you to counselling, and we can work out how best to support you.

To enable you to decide whether you would like to work with me, I offer a free initial consultation either in person or via the telephone. This will give us an opportunity to discuss your hopes and expectations, allowing you to be fully informed of how I work and for you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you.
