About me and my therapy practice
Hello I’m Gemma,
I’m a qualified person-centred counsellor, and I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard, whether that’s in person, online, or over the phone.
I specialise in helping people navigate relationship difficulties, whether you're struggling in a current relationship, dealing with a breakup, finding patterns that keep repeating, or feeling isolated and disconnected.
Relationships, in all their forms, are central to how we experience ourselves and the world. When things feel off, it can affect everything.
.Alongside relationships, I also work with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, bereavement, and life transitions.
My role is not to advise or "fix", but to walk alongside you, helping you explore your experiences and reconnect with what matters to you.
Practice description
I'm trained in the person-centred approach, which means I won't give advice or try to "fix" you.
I believe you already have the answers within you. My role is to walk alongside you, offering empathy, honesty, and respect, helping you explore what’s really going on and what matters most to you.
Many people come to counselling feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to start. That’s completely okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out. I’ll meet you where you are, and together we can start to make sense of things.
Sessions
I offer counselling:
-In person from my room in stroud.
- Online (via secure video)
- By telephone
You can choose the format that feels most comfortable and fits with your life. We can talk about this when you get in touch.
My first session
I offer a free initial phone call because I understand that starting counselling can feel like a big step. This call provides a no-pressure opportunity for you to ask any questions, share any concerns, and get a sense of whether my approach feels right for you. It’s important that you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning, and this first conversation allows us to explore what you’re looking for in counselling and how I might be able to help.
This initial call is also a chance to talk about your expectations and hopes for the process. Whether you have a specific goal in mind or just a general sense that something needs to change, we can begin to explore what you want from therapy in a way that feels safe and open. Because I take a person-centred approach, your needs and experiences will always guide our work together. There’s no right or wrong way to begin—this is your space to be heard.
By offering this call free of charge, I aim to remove any pressure or obligation. It’s simply a conversation—one that allows you to take the first step in a way that feels right for you. If you decide to continue, we can discuss how sessions might work moving forward. But if you’re unsure, that’s okay too. My priority is to create an environment where you feel empowered to make the choices that best support your wellbeing.
