About me and my therapy practice
Counselling in Leeds (Calverley) and Online
You might be feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or exhausted from trying to keep up 鈥 especially if you are autistic or ADHD. You may feel like you are constantly masking, overthinking, or struggling to manage your energy.
I offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever has brought you here, at your own pace.
I understand what it鈥檚 like to sit in the client鈥檚 chair myself. My own experience of therapy brought a huge sense of relief 鈥 of not feeling alone anymore 鈥 and that continues to shape how I work. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported as we make sense of things together.
I am an integrative counsellor, trained in person-centred therapy, and I also use trauma-informed approaches and psychoeducation where helpful. I am particularly interested in helping people understand their emotional responses and nervous system, reducing shame and self-blame.
I work with adults aged 18+ and welcome people of all genders, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds.
I am a neurodivergent therapist (autistic and ADHD) and offer neuro-affirming counselling. I understand that we all experience the world differently, and I will adapt sessions to suit your communication style, needs, and preferences.
I have previous experience volunteering at a women鈥檚 centre for two years, supporting clients with a range of experiences including trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, and low self-worth.
I have experience supporting clients with trauma and CPTSD, difficult or adverse childhood experiences, bereavement and loss, separation and divorce, anxiety and depression, emotional overwhelm and burnout, low self-worth and shame, self-doubt, neurodiversity, people-pleasing, boundary difficulties, and family and relationship issues.
Practice description
In our sessions, we will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is no pressure to share anything before you are ready, and you are always in control of what you choose to bring.
I aim to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. Together, we can begin to make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and gently explore any patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck.
My approach is warm, non-judgemental, and collaborative. I won鈥檛 tell you what to do or rush you, but I may offer gentle reflections, questions, and psychoeducation where helpful 鈥 particularly around emotions, trauma, and the nervous system.
For many people, therapy is not about 鈥渇ixing鈥 themselves, but about understanding themselves more deeply and developing self-compassion.
Sessions are usually weekly to begin with, helping to build consistency and a sense of safety. Over time, we can review what feels right for you.
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you鈥檙e used to coping on your own. You are welcome to bring whatever you need 鈥 whether that feels clear or uncertain.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute phone call before starting counselling. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions, share a little about what鈥檚 bringing you, and get a sense of whether we feel like the right fit. There is no obligation to continue after this call.
If we decide to work together, I will send you a therapy agreement and a short registration form before our first session. This includes some background information and space to share any goals you may have. There is no pressure to complete this in detail 鈥 we can always explore things together in session.
The first session, and the early stages of counselling, are often about building a safe and trusting relationship. There is no expectation to share everything straight away. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
