About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Sue. Thank you for looking at my profile today.
I offer a warm, safe space in my private practice in Southsea. I also work online.
I am here to listen without judgement, to work with you to make sense of what troubles you. The world we live in can throw many curved balls at us, be it anxiety, grief, depression, addiction to name just a few.
Sometimes, we need to allow ourselves the time and space to look at what this means to our life. Together, we will go gently at your pace to make sense of what may seem and feel just too much for your heart and mind to carry right now. I will work with you towards bringing about change, clarity and direction.
I have had the privilege of working with many clients over the years, each of them having a unique life changing event or set of circumstances, that brings them to therapy. I say unique because each of us can carry our past into our present life, and that can have a fundamental influence on how we see and experience our world today.
As well as working in my private practice, I have volunteered previously at a bereavment charity, and currently, at a neonatal bereavment service.
I appreciate that it's so important to find a counsellor that you feel comfortable with and to be understood. So I offer a free 15 minute consultation phone call (with no obligation to book a session) so that we can talk through what you initially hope to achieve through working together. This will also give you an opportunity to ask any questions about counselling and how I work.
Practice description
I offer short and long term counselling. In the first instance these are usually weekly for a minimum period of six weeks, but as we go through your counselling journey together you may find that you are comfortable coming, for example, twice a month.
Sessions are £60 lasting for 50 minutes.
Payment is required 48 hours before your appointment.
Sometimes life gets in the way and cancellations can’t be avoided, but I would kindly ask that you contact me at least 48 hours in advance to do so. In general, cancellations after this time will be charged in full.
My first session
In the first session we will take a short amount of time at the beginning to go through the paperwork, which I will send out to you via email prior to the session. This will needed to be completed in the first session only.
In the rest of the session we will start to get to know each other and focusing on what brought you to counselling.
Sessions last 50 minutes.
