About me and my therapy practice

My name is Margaret, and I am an integrative, person-centred counsellor with a strong solution-focused approach.

I work with people who want to understand themselves and are ready to take responsibility for change. My style is warm and supportive, while also being honest and reflective. I pay close attention to patterns, contradictions, and what may be keeping you stuck, and I will gently challenge this when it feels helpful.

Alongside exploration, I offer practical suggestions and invite you to consider new ways of responding, so our work leads to movement rather than remaining at insight alone.

My aim is to offer a supportive yet focused space where insight leads to clarity, accountability, and meaningful forward movement. This approach suits people who value compassion, but also want to be challenged and empowered to do things differently.

Practice description

Drawing from person-centred and solution-focused approaches, I tailor our work to your individual needs while keeping a clear focus on what is changeable.

I work collaboratively, reflecting what I notice, asking purposeful questions, and offering practical suggestions when helpful. Understanding yourself matters, but real change happens when insight is followed by action.

This approach works well for people who;

Want to know themselves better and make better choices

Are self-aware (or becoming more) but feel stuck

Value support alongside gentle challenge

Are open to practical suggestions

Want to move forward, not just reflect

My first session

I offer a free initial chat where you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions and get a feel for how we might work together.

If you decide to move forward, my goal in our first session will be to understand your reasons for seeking therapy, how your situation is affecting you, and what you hope to achieve from our sessions.

We’ll also agree on the practical aspects, such as session times, frequency and payment arrangements. Additionally, we’ll discuss confidentiality and the boundaries of our professional relationship, ensuring you feel safe and supported throughout our work together.
