About me and my therapy practice
Do you prioritise others鈥 needs and feel guilty when you think about prioritising yourself?
Maybe you say 鈥測es鈥 when you really want to say 鈥渘o鈥. You might worry about being seen as selfish, difficult or letting others down. Perhaps this leads you to overthink conversations or seek reassurance. You may be able to be kind and compassionate towards others, but are critical of yourself.
If these feelings resonate, you may be experiencing anxiety, stress or overwhelm as a result.
My aim is to help you develop a strong sense of who you are, what makes you feel confident, and increase your self-compassion, so you can make choices that feel right for you, rather than what you feel you 鈥渟hould鈥 do. We can explore gentle approaches to communicating your needs and setting boundaries, where helpful, always at your pace and when you feel ready to do so.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore what you think, feel and need without having to please others or have all the answers.
Above all, I want therapy to be a space where you can be yourself. You get to take up space too.
Practice description
Perhaps you tell yourself that others have been through worse and wonder whether you have a good enough reason to reach out. I believe that, whatever your experience, you deserve support.
I am passionate about empowering individuals to develop a stronger, kinder relationship with themselves and move towards who they want to be. I create a space for you to pause and turn your attention towards yourself, something you may not experience day to day.
I won鈥檛 tell you who you should be or what decisions you should make. I鈥檒l gently support you to understand yourself and your patterns more deeply, without judgement, so you can make choices that feel authentic to you.
We can work towards healthier boundaries, stronger self-esteem and more confident communication 鈥 helping you move from 鈥淲hat will everyone else think?鈥 towards 鈥淲hat do I think?鈥
My first session
If you鈥檝e never had counselling before, or even if you have, reaching out for support can feel understandably daunting. You might be unsure what to expect, what to say, worried about being judged, or wondering how it will help.
This is why I offer a free introductory call, so we can have a chat about what you鈥檙e hoping to gain from counselling, what therapy may look like and whether working together feels like the right fit. It鈥檚 also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
To reassure you, you don鈥檛 need to arrive with a neatly explained problem. Sometimes knowing that something doesn鈥檛 feel right is enough of a starting point.
Following the introductory call, if you want to continue, we鈥檒l spend some time in our first session getting to know each other and talking about what has brought you to counselling. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
If any of the above has resonated and you would like to have an introductory call, please feel free to contact me via 麻豆原创 or my website: www.eleanorwhytecounselling.co.uk
