About me and my therapy practice
Feeling safe in therapy will be a core part of our work because this will allow you to visit the things you might have turned away from before. My goal is to support you in gaining a better understanding of yourself and to find greater wellbeing, happiness and balance in your life. Counselling is a very personal journey and you will bring your own history, concerns and hopes. I'm there to support you in moving closer to the life you want. You may have very clear goals in mind or you might want to explore past events or current behaviours which are holding you back.
I work as an Integrative Counsellor, with a special interest in IFS (Internal Family Systems) Therapy. I am trained by the IFS Institute with a special focus on Anxiety, Depression & Shame and IFIO (Intimacy From the Inside Out). I work with adults and children aged 12 plus, working online or in person. I also work with couples and other relationship dynamics.
As we say in the IFS community, All Parts are welcome. We all have a complex history and inner world, and however we work together in therapy, you will get to know this inner world better, leading to greater ease and harmony - not only with others, but within yourself.
I work across all common areas of practice but have particular interest and expertise in:
- Academic Coaching
- ADHD
- Adolescents and Young Adults
- Ageing
- Anxiety
- Chronic illness
- Couples Therapy (and other dynamics)
- Creative professionals
- Depression
- Disability
- Domestic Abuse
- Looked After Children and Care Leavers
- Men's Issues
- Relational Issues (Intimate, Business and Familial)
- Shame
- Women's Issues and health (stages of life, identity, pregnancy, motherhood, menopause)
Practice description
I offer some face to face sessions but much of my work is online, allowing me to work with clients across the UK and Ireland, as well as those farther afield.
You can expect to work with me weekly or fortnightly for counselling.
My hope is that you will experience me as approachable, warm and non-judgemental. I work integratively (blending person-centred, psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) but where appropriate and / or by request will work extensively with Internal Family Systems therapy. My work with couples and other relational dynamics is through IFS.
