About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Chanelle, an Integrative Psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. My approach to therapy is integrative, meaning I believe in tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the individual. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic, and Humanistic, all centered around a child-focused approach.

Having worked with young people in diverse settings such as schools and community programs, I have witnessed the profound impact that emotional support can have on their development. I believe that addressing both the small and significant challenges young people face can make a lasting difference in their emotional well-being, helping them grow into resilient and capable adults.

I specialise in supporting young people through a wide range of issues, including self-harm, suicidal ideation, self-esteem challenges, identity exploration, cultural concerns, abuse, bereavement, low mood, depression, anxiety, and neurodiversity.

If you're interested in learning more or would like to schedule a consultation, please get in touch via email.

Practice description

I tailor my practice to meet the unique needs of each client, starting with a comprehensive assessment of their emotional development and presentation. I believe that therapy should be flexible and adaptable, allowing space for growth at a pace that feels right for the individual.

When working with children, I take into account their level of emotional literacy. For example, if a child struggles to express their feelings verbally, I use creative approaches such as play or art to help them communicate in ways that feel natural. These methods not only offer an outlet for expression but also support the gradual development of emotional awareness and literacy over time.

At the heart of my practice is a child-centred approach, which ensures that each session is guided by the client’s needs, preferences, and emotional readiness. This foundation allows me to offer therapy that is truly supportive, fostering both understanding and emotional growth in a safe, nurturing environment.

My first session

I offer a free 20 minute online consultation session. This allows parents and clients to meet with me and decide whether they would like to continue with therapy. This is also a time to express current concerns and what brings them to therapy and explore parental and client needs. We can then come to an agreement on next steps...
