About me and my therapy practice
The most important thing about my counselling practice is providing a safe, confidential and welcoming place for my clients.
In my experience when my clients feel warmly and securely held, then talking about what is important to them is easier, and more natural.
With a variety of personal experiences in my past, and as I continually work on my own self awareness and acceptance, I meet my clients in a 'Person-Centred' way with understanding and empathy, human to human. As much as the experiences of life can often be difficult, I offer a 'sincere and light of heart' attitude to life and all that it presents us - knowing that when we have the opportunity to share with another, the load is more bearable, lighter to carry.
I base my counselling style with the client at the centre of my practice, and the sessions revolve around what the client wants to speak about and how they want me to interact with them. Sometimes this will mean me simply listening to what my clients say, and offering my understanding and thoughts related to that, other times my client may ask me to be more directive in how I help with any given situation they are facing.
Whatever ways my clients and I relate, the fundamental intention I have is to develop a unique and cherished professional relationship, and to help my clients find ways towards a more easeful relationship with themselves and life around them.
Among my qualifications I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy that is Â鶹Դ´ Gold Standard Accredited.
Practice description
I offer face to face sessions from my comfortable therapy space here in Hayle, Cornwall and also online or phone sessions if required or preferred.
Prior to an initial session I offer a free 30 minute chat within which both my clients and I get a feel for how working together might be; there is an opportunity for my clients to ask questions and I will request some important information that will then allow us to book in an initial session.
My first session
The first session consists of my client and I making an agreement in the first place – a contract to which we can hold each other to. This includes fundamentally important things such as confidentiality, agreements around timings and attendance, and payments.
Following the formation of the agreement, the space is ready for the counselling to begin, which is usually within the first session, after the agreement has been made.
Sessions then continue until a natural ending occurs, or a pause in counselling is appropriate. My clients and I review how the sessions are going every 6 sessions, to then agree either a continuation, a pause, or an ending.
