About me and my therapy practice
Sam Otero: BSc(Hons), MRes, PhD Psychology. Â鶹Դ´ and CPCAB Accredited Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
You may have heard that "change starts with you," but where do you begin? I have the skills and experience to listen carefully and notice what matters most. I trust that you have the resources within you and can help draw out hidden treasure. There is no pain too deep or problem too big that we cannot look at together. I provide a caring, nurturing space for you to be fully yourself, even if you don't know what that looks like, yet.
My background is in psychological research with a focus on memory and neuropsychology. I bring this into my work with considerations of how the past influences the present, and how our brains are uniquely and individually wired. I use person-centred counselling with skills in re-connecting body and mind to discover the wisdom of your whole being.
Practice description
I work online via Zoom or similar, I also work in person at offices in the Brighton and Hove area (free parking, bus route 1, 1X). I use person-centred philosophy to tailor your counselling to you. That includes the length and duration of sessions, location, content and style.
In addition to my individual practice, I work with couples, individuals in relationships, and those preparing for marriage, as well as business partners and other close relational dynamics. We explore communication, connection, and points of difficulty, drawing on attachment theory and personality to help you understand each other more deeply and develop clearer boundaries and more intentional ways of relating.
My first session
Our first session enables us to see if we are the right fit to work together. We can explore your agenda and discuss what trajectory the work might take.
I look forward to working with you!

About me and my therapy practice
Sam Otero: BSc(Hons), MRes, PhD Psychology. Â鶹Դ´ and CPCAB Accredited Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
I work with individuals and couples who are often functioning well on the outside, but experience something not sitting right beneath the surface. This might show up as anxiety, low mood, a sense of pressure, or difficulties in relationships.
Together, we look at what is happening in depth, including patterns of thinking, emotional responses, and ways of relating that may have developed over time. My approach draws on attachment, personality, and a broader understanding of how past experience shapes the present, helping you move towards greater clarity, stability, and freedom in how you live and relate.I have the skills and experience to listen carefully and notice what matters most. I trust that you have the resources within you and can help draw out hidden treasure. There is no pain too deep or problem too big that we cannot look at together.
