About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel seen and heard. As a trauma-informed therapist, I can support you with challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, abuse, trauma, low confidence and self-esteem, and experiences of loss and bereavement.
Alongside talking therapy, I also offer a range of art materials such as clay, paint, drawing, and collage. These tools offer additional ways for you to explore and express your thoughts and emotions. This can be especially helpful when finding the right words feels difficult or when emotions are hard to express.
Working with the arts can help you view your challenges from different perspectives and, when needed, create some distance from them. It can also support you in gaining a sense of control, experiencing freedom, or exploring themes such as perfectionism or boundaries. Creative work can be helpful when managing difficult physical health conditions, not only by offering a space to explore how you feel, but also by helping you reconnect with your body. This mind–body connection can support you to feel more grounded and calmer.
I have both personal and professional experience of special educational needs, learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism. I have spent many years working within the education system, supporting young people with a wide range of needs in the classroom, in their homes, and in alternative provisions. I also understand these experiences on a more personal level, which I feel has given me a deeper, lived understanding of the challenges and strengths that can come with neurodiversity and additional needs.
Practice description
Some challenges my clients may be feeling when they begin therapy:
• Feeling that life has become overwhelming, with persistent anxiety, stress, or a sense of burnout.
• Experiencing exhaustion from caring for others, whether as a parent, sibling, daughter, or son, perhaps feeling there is little time or space left for themselves.
• Supporting a neurodivergent loved one and feeling overwhelmed by navigating the education system, coping with school avoidance, home education, or seeking appropriate specialist provision.
• Being newly diagnosed with ADHD or autism and feeling uncertain about what the diagnosis means or how to make sense of it.
• Living with past or present experiences that have never felt safe or possible to talk about.
• Struggling to cope and feeling disconnected from their sense of self.
• Facing life changes and loss.
I am down-to-earth and offer a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can feel truly seen and heard, perhaps for the first time.
Together, we’ll explore your goals and find ways to work through the challenges you’re facing, whether they’re connected to past or present experiences or changes in your life.
One of the most important parts of therapy is building a trusting relationship where you feel safe and understood. Whatever you bring, we’ll always move at a pace that feels right for you.
I work out of two spaces. The Happy Body Project near Haynes and Wilstead, just off of the A6. This is set in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside and offers a large reception area, refreshments and onsite parking.
I also work out of Project 229 on Bedford Road, Kempston. There is free parking nearby and a lovely cafe on the ground floor.
My first session
I offer a free 50-minute full session online. This will be an informal assessment which gives us both a chance to get to know each other, a chance for you to ask any questions and to see if I am the right therapist for you.
If you would then like to continue, we would typically meet once a week at the same time, but there is flexibility if this doesn’t fit with your needs. There are no set number of sessions, instead focusing on what works best for you, whether this is in person or online.
I offer both in person face to face and online.
Types of therapy
Brief therapy, Creative therapy, Gestalt, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred, Psychodynamic, Transactional analysis
