About me and my therapy practice

How I Deliver Therapy:

Hi, I’m Waqas. I believe that the foundation of good therapy is trust: trust that you can show up just as you are, without fear of judgment, and trust that we can explore whatever’s on your mind with honesty and care. I’m here to listen deeply - not just to your words, but to the feelings beneath them, and I approach our work with genuine curiosity and empathy.

I want to be upfront with you: therapy isn’t always easy, and it’s not always comfortable. We might dive into some difficult, personal issues that feel painful or unresolved. This can be unsettling at times, but that’s often where the real transformation happens. It’s in those moments of discomfort, when we face what’s tough to confront, that we start to break through old barriers and make space for new possibilities. In doing so, you can begin to feel more in control of your story, your choices, and your growth. This work may be challenging, but it’s also an opportunity to reclaim your voice and discover your own strength.

I’ll never ask you to rush through the therapeutic process, but I will encourage you to sit with the hard stuff, to reflect and question, because that’s where growth occurs. You’ll always have my support to help you face these challenges with openness and courage. If you’re ready to dig deep, I’m here to walk alongside you, as you uncover new insights and create meaningful change in your life. I remain professional and maintain a high level ethical standard; however, I am a human being first.

What does this mean for you? It means that I draw from a variety of methods to meet you where you are and help you make sense of what’s going on both inside and around you. I’ll work with you in a way that feels right for you - whether it’s helping you gain awareness of patterns in your past, finding ways to manage difficult emotions, or simply creating space for you to feel heard.

Practice description

My Background & Approach

I bring a unique and well-rounded perspective to therapy that is grounded in both scientific understanding and compassionate care. With a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, I’m able to approach mental health not only from a psychological lens but also with a deep appreciation for the biological factors that influence how we think, feel, and behave.

I hold a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling, which allows me to draw from a range of therapeutic models and adapt my approach to meet your individual needs.

My professional career has rewarded me with extensive experience working with forensic patients in secure settings, supporting individuals mental health challenges. I have also served as a Therapeutic Lead for clients struggling with addiction, particularly alcohol dependence - as well as those affected by substance misuse involving prescription medications, cannabis, methadone, and opiates.

My work is rooted in a holistic philosophy. I believe healing involves the whole mind, body, and spirit. Depending on your goals and preferences, our sessions may include a variety of therapeutic methods such as guided meditation, guided imagery, and elements of play therapy. My aim is to create a judgment free, flexible, and supportive space where you can explore, grow, and move toward lasting change.

My first session

Each session is 60 minutes long. We’ll start with the first 10-20 minutes going over the therapeutic contract, where we’ll discuss important details like expectations, confidentiality, and how we’ll work together. After that, we’ll focus on your goals for therapy, exploring what you’d like to achieve and how you envision the process.

The remainder of the session will be dedicated to the therapeutic work itself, using the approaches I’ve outlined (such as talk therapy, guided meditation, guided imagery, or other tailored techniques) to support your personal growth and healing.
