About me and my therapy practice
Hi I’m Stuart. I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MÂ鶹Դ´). I offer a short telephone call for free to see if I am the right counsellor for you and I welcome people from all cultures and backgrounds, as well as the LGBTQ+ community. I have been told I have a warm, calming presence.
People seek counselling for a variety of reasons, from painful events such as bereavement to anxiety, depression, or a general sense of feeling ‘different’ or ‘stuck’. I offer a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings about these experiences. We can work together to help you find your own solutions to difficulties you face.
I started my counselling training in 2016 and I volunteered for one year as a ‘befriender’ with Maytree, a suicide respite charity, before counselling clients for two years with Haringey Bereavement Service.
Specialist areas
Bereavement, suicidal ideation, drug & alcohol misuse (including familiarity with 12-step programs), and neurodiversity.
I work with adults and children.
Practice description
I will work collaboratively with you to uncover blocks to wellbeing and to identify which of your own strengths might be applied to a current situation.
My training was in integrative counselling, which means that I use methods from a number of different approaches to suit your needs. This is mainly a person-centred approach, but also makes use of some tools from gestalt counselling, psychodynamic counselling, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
My first session
I offer a free initial telephone consultation for new potential clients.
Then, at our first counselling session, we will draw up a working agreement with each other at the start of the session, and decide how many sessions we contract for.
