About me and my therapy practice

I've been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 2012, and I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Humanistic Counselling Practice from the University of Nottingham in 2016. Since then I've worked across a wide range of settings — schools, hospices, crisis support, the voluntary sector, and private practice — face to face, online, and outdoors.

I work with adults, children and young people, and families. I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS and extensive safeguarding and child protection qualifications.

My approach is humanistic, person-centred, and trauma-informed. In practice, that means I work with you as a whole person — not a diagnosis, not a presenting problem, not a tick-box. I'm direct, straightforward, and I don't do unnecessary jargon. I also don't do 'one size fits all'.

I'm based in Sheffield S3 and work face to face and online — including internationally.

Practice description

People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons — and the best therapy starts from exactly where you are, not where a model says you should be.

Whether you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, trauma, identity questions, grief, or something you're still trying to name — I work with whatever you bring. I'm flexible, curious, and genuinely creative in how I work. Some people want structured, focused short-term work. Others need space to explore something deeper over time. I'm comfortable with both.

I won't waste your time or money with vague reflection. I'll be honest with you — respectfully, but honestly — and I'll work hard in the room. I expect the same in return. That's not for everyone, and that's fine.

Sessions are 50 minutes and £70. Face to face, or online anywhere in the UK and internationally.

To get in touch, email adam@awct.co.uk — tell me a little about what's going on, and we'll take it from there.

My first session

Before we meet, I'll ask for some basic personal details to set up your records securely in line with GDPR.

I offer a free initial conversation of up to 30 minutes — no obligation. It's a chance for both of us to ask questions, get a feel for whether this is the right fit, and decide how to proceed. If it's not the right fit, I'll say so honestly, and where I can, I'll point you somewhere that might be better.

What I can help with

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, Men's issues, Neurodiversity, Post-traumatic stress, Relationships, Self esteem, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues

Types of therapy

Humanistic, Person centred, Relational

Clients I work with

Adults, Children, Couples, Families, Older adults, Young people

How I deliver therapy
