About me and my therapy practice
Hello. I鈥檓 Leyla, a counsellor & psychotherapist, and mental health and wellbeing coach with a deep passion for supporting women through life鈥檚 more challenging and transitional seasons. While my work mainly centres on women, I also welcome men who resonate with my approach and feel it would be a good fit for them.
Many of the women I work with come to therapy feeling anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected from themselves. Often they鈥檝e been holding everything together for a long time for their families, their work, or others around them, while quietly struggling inside.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and grounded. I believe that therapy should feel like a safe, steady space where you don鈥檛 have to explain or justify how you feel. A space where you can slow down, breathe, and begin to understand yourself with kindness rather than self-criticism.
Who I Work With
I primarily work with women who are seeking a gentle, relational, and trauma-informed approach to therapy.
I support clients who are experiencing:
Anxiety, stress, and chronic overwhelm,
The lasting impact of trauma (including developmental, relational, or single-incident trauma),
Perimenopause and menopause-related emotional changes,
Burnout, emotional exhaustion, and people-pleasing patterns,
Life transitions such as motherhood, relationship changes, identity shifts, or career changes,
Low self-esteem, self-doubt, and feeling 鈥渘ot enough鈥,
Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected from who they are,.
My Experience
Alongside my private practice, I work as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach (PCN), supporting individuals across different stages of life. I also bring experience from working with children and young people in both school and primary care settings, which has profoundly shaped my compassionate, relational way of working. In addition, I have spent the past couple of years working with a counselling agency specialising in trauma-focused work, further strengthening my trauma-informed approach.
Practice description
My Approach
I work in an integrative and holistic way, blending counselling with gentle coaching where helpful. This means we don鈥檛 just explore past experiences, but also support you in developing tools, boundaries, and self-awareness that help you feel more grounded in your day-to-day life.
I place a strong emphasis on nervous system regulation, emotional safety, and working at your pace. Trauma-informed care sits at the heart of my practice. I understand how deeply experiences can live in the body as well as the mind, and I work gently and respectfully with this.
Our work together might include:
Exploring patterns shaped by past experiences
Developing self-compassion and emotional resilience
Understanding anxiety and stress responses
Supporting identity changes during menopause or major life transitions
Creating space to reconnect with yourself and your needs
There is no pressure to 鈥渇ix鈥 yourself. Therapy with me is about understanding, healing, and learning to relate to yourself in a kinder, more supportive way.
What It鈥檚 Like to Work With Me
Clients often tell me they feel listened to, understood, and gently supported. I won鈥檛 rush you or push you to talk about things before you鈥檙e ready. I believe healing happens in relationship, through feeling safe enough to be honest, vulnerable, and real.
You don鈥檛 need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You don鈥檛 need to be 鈥渁t rock bottom.鈥 If something inside you is asking for support, that鈥檚 reason enough.
A Gentle Invitation
If you鈥檙e navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, menopause, or a period of transition, and you鈥檙e looking for a space where you can simply be, I鈥檇 be honoured to support you.
Reaching out can feel daunting, but you don鈥檛 have to do this alone. When you鈥檙e ready, I鈥檓 here.
My first session
I offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory call to help you determine whether counselling with me is the right fit for you. This brief conversation provides an opportunity to share what you鈥檙e looking for, ask any questions, and gain a sense of how I work before committing to full sessions.
If you decide to continue, our first full session will be an opportunity to explore your current situation, goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I鈥檒l also explain how I work, discuss confidentiality, and answer any questions you may have.
The first full session is charged at my standard rate, and there鈥檚 no obligation to continue if it doesn鈥檛 feel right for you. My aim is to help you feel comfortable, informed, and supported from the very start of your counselling journey.
