About me and my therapy practice

I believe counselling is about creating a warm, safe and supportive space where you feel able to talk openly and be truly heard. My role is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as we explore your experiences together.

I offer both individual and couples counselling. For individuals, this might mean exploring emotions, patterns of behaviour, or life events that feel difficult to manage. For couples, our work focuses on helping you understand what is happening within your relationship, improving communication, and finding new ways to connect.

My approach is collaborative and client-led. You are the expert on your own life, and counselling provides a space for us to make sense of your experiences at your pace. Some clients come to sessions with a clear focus, while others feel unsure but know that something isn’t right. Both are welcome starting points, and we will shape the work together.

I draw on relational and integrative approaches to therapy, which means I pay attention to the relationship we build in sessions as well as the wider context of your life. I may gently introduce ideas or reflections, but always in a way that feels respectful and supportive of your process.

What you can expect from me is compassion, honesty, and a non-judgemental presence. My aim is to help you feel supported in working through difficulties, gaining insight, and moving towards greater healing and personal growth.

Practice description

Life can present challenges that feel overwhelming, and at times like these it can make a difference to have support. At Emma Victoria Counselling, I offer both individual and couples counselling in a warm, safe, and compassionate space where you can freely explore your thoughts and feelings.

I am committed to creating a supportive environment where clients from all backgrounds feel welcomed and respected. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low confidence, or navigating life changes such as bereavement, redundancy, or relationship challenges, I am here to help. Sometimes we may not even know why life feels hard, and counselling can provide the space to begin making sense of this.

Our sessions are led by your experiences and needs. You may want to focus on a specific difficulty, or you may want to explore more broadly what is going on in your life. Together we will work at your pace to understand your emotions, explore underlying causes, and find coping strategies that support you.

If you attend as a couple, our work will be focused on helping you and your partner explore patterns within your relationship, improve communication, and strengthen connection.

My aim is to support your journey towards healing and personal growth. Counselling is not about quick fixes, but about offering a safe and consistent space where you can be heard without judgement, gain insight, and feel more empowered in your life.

My first session

Not sure if counselling is right for you? I offer a free 15-minute consultation over Zoom so you can ask any questions and get a feel for how I work, with no pressure to commit. This is a chance for us to briefly meet, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and decide whether you’d like to book a first full session.

Your first full counselling session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other more deeply and to explore what has led you here.

In this initial meeting, you’ll have the chance to talk about what feels important to you and what you might hope to gain from counselling. Some people come with a clear sense of the issues they want to focus on, while others may feel unsure, only knowing that life feels difficult right now. Both are completely okay, we can explore this together at your pace.

You’re also welcome to ask me questions about counselling, my approach, or the way we might work together.

By the end of the first session, we should have a sense of whether continuing feels right for you. You’re not committing to ongoing sessions at this stage, though many clients choose to continue weekly to build momentum.
