About me and my therapy practice
Are you an adult adoptee seeking to understand yourself more deeply?
You may feel a lingering sense of disconnection from your identity, emotions, or past. Perhaps there鈥檚 an underlying fear of abandonment, or a sense of not being 鈥渆nough,鈥 no matter how much you do. You鈥檙e not alone in this.
I specialise in counselling for adult adoptees who want to explore how adoption has shaped their lives - their relationships, self-worth, and ability to express emotions. As an adoptee myself, I bring both lived insight and professional training (MA in Integrative Counselling, adoption-specific training) to our work together.
My approach is relational and integrative, with a foundation in trauma-informed practice. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can bring all parts of your story 鈥 even the ones you鈥檝e had to hide or minimise.
Practice description
Together, we might explore:
- Your sense of identity and belonging
- Emotional patterns that feel overwhelming or hard to express
- The impact of early separation or attachment trauma
- Feelings of shame, guilt, or invisibility around adoption
- Ways to strengthen relationships and self-trust
Every adoptee鈥檚 experience is unique. Some people come wanting to understand their story more deeply; others are focused on current relationships, or how adoption continues to affect day-to-day life.
My approach is collaborative so we鈥檒l work at your pace and in a way that feels right for you. I believe healing unfolds through connection: when we feel truly seen and heard, change becomes possible. Therapy can be a space to untangle what feels confusing, to reconnect with parts of yourself you鈥檝e hidden, and to begin building a stronger sense of who you are.
My first session
Sessions are usually weekly, either open-ended or for a set period, depending on what feels right for you. I work in person in Horsforth, Leeds, and online across the UK.
I know starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you鈥檝e held things in for a long time. To make the first step easier, I offer a free 15-minute call. This is a chance to ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and see whether it feels like a good fit. From there, we can agree on a regular time and rhythm that works for you.
