About me and my therapy practice
I'm Lou Knight, an integrative psychotherapist working online with adults across the UK. I'm based in Yorkshire, and all my sessions are held by secure video, so we can work together wherever you are.
Much of my work is with people who have experienced relational and reputational aggression — the covert bullying, exclusion, triangulation that can happen in workplaces, friendships, families and community groups. It works through relationships rather than open confrontation, which makes it hard to prove and easy to dismiss — and it can leave you doubting your own perception. If that's familiar: you're not overreacting, and it counts.
I also work with personal development such as identity, relational patterns, self-esteem and confidence - including things like people-pleasing and perfectionism that can shape how we relate to ourselves and others.
I work from a relational, person-centred foundation, drawing on psychodynamic and attachment-informed approaches with a focus on co-creating a strong therapeutic relationship to facilitate your own agency in finding ways to feel more whole in yourself and to navigate your own self-development and an exploration of your relational patterns. My theoretical lens posits that the more fully and deeply we know ourselves the more freedom we have to make choices in our own life and therefore, therapy is a process to explore reclaiming more of your authentic self.
In practice, that means a non-judgemental space where you set the pace, and where the aim is to understand your experience rather than to label or fix you.
I hold a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Practice description
I offer online therapy to adults across the UK, so we can work together wherever you are. Sessions are held by secure video, and I'm based in Yorkshire.
Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly, and I currently work Tuesday to Thursday. The fee is £60 per session. We'll settle on a rhythm that suits you, and there's no fixed number of sessions — some people come for a defined piece of work, others for something longer and more open-ended.
What you can expect from me is warmth, real attention, and a space that's genuinely yours — somewhere you don't have to translate, minimise or perform. I won't tell you what to think or hand you a formula. Instead we work at your pace: making sense of what's going on for you, perhaps noticing the patterns beneath it, and slowly widening the space in which you feel able to be yourself.
My particular focus is relational and reputational aggression — covert bullying and exclusion, including at work — alongside personal development work such as self-esteem, confidence, identity and understanding your relational patterns.
You're welcome to get in touch to arrange a free initial consultation, with no obligation to continue. I offer a complimentary 15 minute call to see if we may potentially be a good fit together for the work. If we agree to go ahead with an initial session, this will serve as a further assessment and will be charged at my standard fee.
As I work online so it's important that you have a private and confidential space where you won't be overheard or interrupted and that you have access to good wifi connectivity.
As is standard in therapy, I will provide a contract which provides terms and conditions for the work. Therapy requires boundaries or a frame and the contract is an important part of that. We will go through this together but I encourage you to read it and ask any questions you may have in the initial sessions.
Sessions are 50 mins long.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy.
My first session
Before we begin, I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation, held online. It's a relaxed, no-obligation conversation — a chance to tell me a little about what's bringing you to therapy, to ask any questions, and to get a feel for what it might be like to work together. There's no pressure to commit, and no cost for this first conversation.
The first full session serves as an assessment too, and potentially we may be assessing the fit and the work together for the first 3-5 sessions as we explore your experiences and your reasons for coming to therapy. These initial sessions are charged at my standard rate.
When you get in touch, I'll usually send a short assessment form beforehand. It simply helps me understand what you're looking for and whether I'm the right person to support you.
In these first sessions, it may be that you don't feel I'm the right fit for you, please know that I won't be offended or take this personally and I'm open to discussing this and hearing any feedback you may have.
Please know that if I decide that the work may not be a good fit for me and my skills or for online working that it is in no way a personal rejection of you but that it is about putting your best interests first.
I don't offer specific referrals to other therapists but I hope that through our initial assessment session(s) that you will have a clearer understanding of the work you are seeking to do to facilitate you in finding the right therapist.
There's nothing you need to prepare, and no right way to show up to a first session. Many people feel nervous beforehand — that's completely normal, and you won't be expected to have the words for everything straight away. We'll go at a pace that feels manageable for you.
A first session is really just the beginning of getting to know each other, and you stay in control of what you share, and when.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm Lou Knight, an integrative psychotherapist. I work online with adults throughout the UK — every session is held over secure video from my base in Yorkshire, so where you live needn't be a barrier to us working together.
A large part of my work is with people who've been on the receiving end of relational and reputational aggression: the covert bullying, exclusion and triangulation that can take hold in workplaces, friendships, families and community groups. Because it operates through relationships rather than open confrontation, it's slippery — hard to prove, easily brushed aside, and corrosive to your trust in your own perception. If you recognise that, I'd want you to hear this: you're not overreacting, and it matters.
I also work in the broader territory of personal development — identity, relational patterns, self-esteem and confidence, including the people-pleasing and perfectionism that shape how we treat ourselves and others.
My foundation is relational and person-centred, drawing on psychodynamic and attachment-informed ideas. Much of the work rests on building a strong therapeutic relationship together — one that supports your own agency as you find ways to feel more whole and explore your patterns of relating. My theoretical lens posits that the more fully we come to know ourselves, the more freedom we have to choose how we live; so therapy becomes, in part, a process of reclaiming more of your authentic self.
In practice, that means a non-judgemental space in which you set the pace, and where the aim is to understand your experience rather than to label or fix you.
I hold a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Each session lasts 50 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly, and I currently work Tuesday to Thursday. My fee is £60 a session. We'll find a rhythm that fits you, and there's no set number of sessions — some people come for a specific, contained piece of work, others for something longer and more open-ended.
From me, you can expect warmth, genuine attention, and a space that is completely your own: somewhere you needn't translate, shrink or perform. I won't tell you what to think or hand you a formula. Instead we go at your pace — making sense of what's happening for you, noticing any patterns underneath it, and gradually widening the space in which you feel able to be yourself.
My particular focus is relational and reputational aggression — covert bullying and exclusion, including at work — alongside personal development such as self-esteem, confidence, identity and understanding your relational patterns.

If we then agree to begin, the first session acts as a further assessment and is charged at my standard fee.
Because the work is online, it's important to have a private, confidential spot where you won't be overheard or interrupted, and a reliable internet connection.
As is usual in therapy, I'll provide a contract setting out the terms of our work. Therapy needs boundaries — a frame — and the contract is part of that. We'll go through it together, and I'd encourage you to read it and raise any questions in our early sessions.
Sessions are 50 minutes long. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
My first session
Before we start properly, I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation online. It's an easy, no-obligation conversation: a chance for you to tell me a little about what's bringing you to therapy, to ask anything you'd like, and to get a sense of how it might feel to work together. There's no pressure to commit and nothing to pay for this first talk.
The first full session doubles as an assessment, and we may spend the first one to five sessions gauging the fit and the work as we explore your experiences and what's brought you here. These early sessions are charged at my standard rate.
Once you're in touch, I'll usually send a short assessment form in advance. It simply helps me understand what you're hoping for and whether I'm the right person to support you.
If, in those first sessions, you sense I'm not the right fit, please know I won't be offended or take it to heart — I welcome that conversation and any feedback you have. Equally, if I conclude the work may not suit my skills, or online working, that's never a personal rejection of you; it's about putting your best interests first.
I don't make specific onward referrals, but my hope is that our initial session or two leave you with a clearer sense of the work you want to do, which can help you find the right therapist.
There's nothing to prepare, and no correct way to arrive at a first session. Many people feel nervous beforehand — that's entirely normal, and you won't be expected to have words for everything at once. We'll move at a pace that feels manageable for you.
A first session is really just the start of getting to know one another, and you stay in charge of what you share, and when.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm Lou Knight — an integrative psychotherapist working with adults online, wherever you are in the UK and everything is done by secure video, so distance isn't an obstacle to us working together.
Much of my work is with people who have lived through relational and reputational aggression: the covert bullying, exclusion and triangulation that can grow up inside workplaces, friendships, families and community groups. It works through relationships rather than out in the open, which is what makes it so hard to prove and so easy for others to wave away — and what can leave you second-guessing your own read on things. If that rings true, I'd say this plainly: you're not overreacting, and it counts.
Alongside that, I work with personal development more broadly — identity, relational patterns, self-esteem and confidence, including the perfectionism and people-pleasing that can shape our relationship with ourselves as much as with other people.
I practise from a relational, person-centred base, informed by psychodynamic and attachment thinking. A good deal of the work happens through the relationship we build together, which is there to strengthen your own agency as you look for ways to feel more whole and to make sense of how you relate. My theoretical lens proposes that the better we know ourselves, the more freely we can choose how to live — so, therapy is a way of reclaiming more of your authentic self.
In practice, that's a non-judgemental space where you lead the pace, and where I'm facilitating you to understand your experience and choices rather than looking to label or fix you.
I hold a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Practice description
My work is online with adults across the UK, so we can meet wherever suits you. Everything runs over secure video.
Sessions are 50 minutes, typically weekly or fortnightly, and I currently see people Tuesday to Thursday. I charge £60 per session. Together we'll settle on a frequency that works for you, and nothing is fixed in advance — some people want a focused, time-limited piece of work, while others prefer something more open and ongoing.
What I offer is warmth, close attention, and a space that belongs to you: one where there's no need to translate, hedge, play things down, or perform. I won't dictate what you should think or prescribe formulas. We simply work at your pace — making sense of what you're carrying, looking at any patterns beneath it, and slowly opening up more room for you to be yourself.
My specialist area of work is relational and reputational aggression — covert bullying and exclusion, including in the workplace — together with personal development such as self-esteem, confidence, identity and coming to understand your relational patterns.
You're very welcome to get in touch about a free initial consultation, with no obligation to go further. It's a complimentary 15-minute call to see whether we might work well together. Should we decide to start, the first session serves as a further assessment and is charged at my usual fee.
Since we'll be meeting online, it helps to have somewhere private and confidential where you won't be overheard or interrupted, along with a stable internet connection.
As is standard, I'll give you a contract that sets out the terms of the work. Therapy relies on boundaries — a frame — and the contract forms part of that. We'll read through it together, and I'd encourage you to look it over and bring any questions to our early sessions.
Sessions last 50 minutes. My cancellation policy is 24 hours.
My first session
To begin, I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation online. It's a low-key, no-obligation chat — space for you to say a little about what's drawing you to therapy, ask whatever you'd like, and get a feel for how working together might be. There's no expectation to commit, and no charge for this first conversation.
The first full session works as an assessment as well, and we might take the opening three to five sessions to weigh up the fit and the work while we explore your experiences and what has brought you here. Those early sessions are charged at my standard rate.
After you get in touch, I'll usually send a brief assessment form ahead of time. It just helps me get a picture of what you're looking for and whether I'm the right person to help.
If you find, in those first sessions, that I'm not the right fit for you, please don't worry about saying so — I won't be offended or take it personally, and I'm glad to talk it through and hear any feedback. In the same way, if I decide the work may fall outside my skills, or isn't suited to online working, that's never a rejection of you; it's about putting your interests first.
I don't provide specific referrals to other therapists, but I hope a session or two together will leave you clearer about the work you want to do, which can make finding the right therapist easier.
There's nothing you need to prepare, and no right way to turn up to a first session. Feeling nervous beforehand is completely normal, and you won't be expected to find the words for everything straight away. We'll keep to a pace that feels manageable for you.
A first session is really just where we start getting to know each other — and what you share, and when, stays entirely up to you.
