About me and my therapy practice
If you’re reading this, chances are you feel that heavy, persistent feeling of being stuck. You may be navigating a huge life transition or questioning the person you’ve become. This is the perfect space to explore that. I'm Michael, and I support individuals (20-45) deep in the process of identity exploration and change. My clients often feel overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious. Sometimes they know why, but often they just know they desperately need things to be different.
My Approach: I work as an Integrative Therapist, using the right tools for your specific problems. My core approach is Attachment-Informed. We explore how your past relationships dictate your current reactions to stress. We process those patterns and build a more authentic, meaningful path forward. The goal is a clearer roadmap.
Services: I offer a flexible structure based on your needs and goals:
Standard Integrative Therapy (£70 per session): For deep, ongoing work where we explore the core self, manage persistent anxiety and depression, and focus on lasting personal growth.
Solution Focused/Brief Therapy (£450 for a 6-session package): Ready for a specific, manageable change now? This rapid, goal-oriented approach focuses on your strengths and immediately maps out your ideal future. Perfect for gaining clarity and momentum without committing to long-term therapy.
Financial Therapy (£80 per session): This specialist area addresses the profound impact money has on our sense of self and meaning. If anxiety about money follows you far beyond your bank statement, we explore the complex intersection of finance, self-worth, and identity.
I work in private practice on Monday afternoons and also manage a social work team. Taking the first step requires an honesty with yourself that can feel vulnerable, but it's where all real change begins. Let’s start the conversation about moving you from feeling stuck to being fully in motion.
Practice description
When you start working with me, the focus is always on creating a space where you can be honest without judgement. My clients often find themselves saying certain things out loud for the first time. I know that initiating therapy takes genuine courage, so my job is to make the process as clear and practical as possible from day one.
The Initial Consultation and Fit
We begin with a free, 30 minute consultation. This isn't a commitment; it's a conversation where we check for 'good fit'. You tell me what brings you to therapy, and I explain my methods. It’s essential you feel comfortable and confident in the process. If we agree to proceed, we schedule our first paid 50-minute session.
Our Sessions: Approach and Engagement
As an Integrative Therapist with a background managing complex social work teams, I bring a pragmatic, structural approach to emotional work. While therapy is often messy, my role is to help you find focus and clarity within those difficult experiences. I will actively engage, offering observations and specific tools to help you create momentum. I won't just nod; I'm here to work with you.
Sessions run for 50 minutes and are generally booked weekly. We establish clear boundaries and goals early on. This work can be long-term (exploring core identity and attachment patterns) or brief (targeting a specific change). The duration is always your choice, based on your goals.
Logistics and Professional Commitment
All sessions are conducted online via Google Meet. This offers you flexibility and continuity. My practice time is currently Monday afternoons, dedicated solely to my therapy clients. Maintaining clear professional boundaries allows me to ensure the highest quality of focus and commitment in our work together.
My mission is to support individuals (20-45) moving beyond feeling stuck to find authentic meaning. If you are navigating a profound life transition or tackling anxiety related to your sense of self, let's explore how we can build your path forward.
My first session
The first paid, 50-minute session is about establishing a clear direction for our work together. By this point, we will have already had our free initial consultation to check for 'good fit.' This first official session transitions us from introduction to meaningful action. It is the moment we start working collaboratively to move you beyond that heavy, stuck feeling.
What to Expect
Practical Foundations: We will quickly confirm the basics (boundaries, cancellation policy, confidentiality) so we can maximise the time dedicated to your goals.
The Deep Dive: This session is where we start building clarity. You will have space to start exploring the issues that brought you to therapy. We won't feel pressured to solve everything immediately, but we will identify the core themes we need to focus on. This is where we begin to understand the depth of our work together so we can address it effectively.
Goal Setting: Drawing on Solution-Focused principles, we will begin to frame your desired outcomes in clear, measurable terms. These goals can be as big or small as needed, and usually change over time as therapy progresses. This ensures we are always working toward your authentic meaning and preferred future, helping us stay focused, even when the therapeutic process gets messy.
No Formal Assessment: I don't use lengthy paper assessments or questionnaires in the first session. The work is relational. My approach is integrated and Attachment-Informed, meaning my assessment of your needs evolves organically through our conversation, focusing on your patterns, strengths, and goals.
The rate for this initial 50-minute session is your standard fee of £70. For those opting for Financial Therapy, the rate is £80.
