About me and my therapy practice
I believe that at our core, we all long to feel connected, understood, and valued. When life brings pain, loss, or difficult relationships, these natural longings can become buried. We may begin to feel cut off from ourselves and others, coping on the surface and doing our best to carry on, while inwardly feeling stuck, exhausted, or alone. It can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.
As a person-centred and relational therapist, I see the therapeutic relationship as central to healing and growth. The conditions of acceptance, genuineness, and deep attunement are sometimes misunderstood as a kind of passive acceptance, but in practice they are active, hands-on qualities. My way of working is not about me simply sitting and nodding - it is about being alongside you with genuine presence, curiosity, and respect, and engaging with your experience in a way that helps you feel truly understood. I aim to be real and transparent in the therapy room, offering an honest human connection while keeping your needs at the centre.
For me, acceptance is about offering a consistent warmth and steadiness that does not fluctuate depending on what you say or do. Many people grow up learning that their worth is conditional - that they must meet the expectations of others in order to feel valued. This can leave a harsh inner critic and a fragile sense of self. In therapy with me, you will find a relationship where you are met with acceptance that is reliable and grounding.
Practice description
A vital part of my approach is deep listening. This is more than hearing your words - it is sensing their meaning, checking in with you, and ensuring that you feel fully heard and deeply known. When someone listens to you in this way, it can feel profoundly relieving. You may begin to feel safe enough to let go of defences and reconnect with parts of yourself that have been hidden or silenced.
I don’t believe therapy is about fixing you - because you are not broken. My role is to provide a space where you can explore, reconnect, and grow at your own pace. Through this process, you may find yourself becoming more open, self-accepting, and able to live in a way that feels more fully your own.
Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-criticism, or a more general sense of being lost, I can offer a steady, compassionate presence as you begin to reflect, make sense of your experiences, and move forward in a way that feels more authentic to you.
I’m committed to creating an inclusive, respectful space for everyone, regardless of beliefs, background, gender, or identity. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, and I have experience adapting therapy to support a range of sensory and processing needs.
My first session
The first step is to book a free 15-minute consultation, either by video or telephone - whichever feels most comfortable for you. You can get in touch by phone, text, or email, and you can expect a friendly and prompt response.
The consultation gives you the chance to see if I’m the right therapist for you, and for me to confirm that I’m able to support you with the issues you’re bringing.
If you decide to go ahead, we can arrange your first session. There’s no obligation to book a set number of sessions, and you can stop at any time. After booking, I’ll email you my contract, which includes information about confidentiality, fees, and cancellation policy, as well as full directions to my address. If you’d like, I can also send a short video showing how to find the entrance. Please note there are two flights of stairs leading up to the counselling rooms.
Before your session starts, you’re welcome to relax in the waiting area, which has comfortable chairs, tea and coffee facilities, and a toilet nearby. When it’s time to begin, I’ll greet you with a warm hello and ensure the space feels as calm and comfortable as possible before we start.
