About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Kaye I am a calm, non-judgemental, welcoming and inclusive counsellor. I provide a safe and confidential space to help you address what’s weighing on your mind. I offer professional and affordable counselling to explore how various situations and life experiences are affecting you. My goal is to empower you to make the positive changes you want and connect with your inner strength.

I am an integrative counsellor. That means I draw on a range of therapeutic methods to develop a tailored approach that suits your unique needs. Our sessions can be talk-based but we can also use more creative tools. The bottom line: we are always led by you and what you bring to the room. We work at your pace in a context of safety, understanding, empathy and care.

Life can be overwhelming especially during times of change, relationship struggles, or after difficult experiences. Whether you’re facing anxiety, depression, loneliness and isolation, relationship issues, sexuality / gender-identity challenges, trauma, or are feeling a bit stuck or overwhelmed, I’m here to listen without judgment and help you create a deeper awareness that opens the door to new possibilities and the changes you seek.

In terms of my background, I have experience with NHS and self-referrals in a local counselling provider. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and counselled with the Intercom Trust charity. Before qualifying as a counsellor, I was a SEND teacher and therapies lead for over 25 years and welcome ASC, Deaf and Neurodiverse clients.

Practice description

I offer one-to-one counselling for adults (18+). I also have experience working with couples, and folks in ‘non- traditional’ relationships (e.g. ENM). No matter who you are, our work is grounded in curiosity, respect and a deep commitment to creating a supportive space. I offer a place to explore identity, communication, boundaries, and connection wherever you are in your journey. You are unique. My practice is inclusive and affirming of all identities and neurodivergence.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, lost, burnt out, or simply needing space to reflect, our work together will be supportive, reflective, and gently challenging to help you find clarity and move forward with confidence. Each session is led by your needs. You decide what paths we venture down and how far we go. I am there to walk alongside you and will be there at every step to offer suggestions if you feel unsure.

You don’t have to go through this alone. Let’s take the first step toward healing and finding a new perspective, together.

In a nutshell, these are my working principles:

• I am warm, down-to-earth, relational and non-judgmental

• I work in the present but welcome the past should it help you explore its impact on you

• We will co-create a tailored, integrative approach based on your needs

• You set the pace; I offer support and challenge as you’re ready

• I am always inclusive and affirming of all identities and neurodivergence

• I am flexible, offering in-person and online sessions

• I have a calm, welcoming face-to-face counselling space in Gandy Street, Exeter and look forward to welcoming you there

My first session

If this sounds like what you need, or if you’re unsure and want to talk it through, feel free to get in touch. Let’s see if we’re a good fit. I offer a free initial 20 minute introductory session online where we can meet and talk things through.

Counselling sessions are usually for one hour and once weekly to establish our client therapist relationship. Following the block of weekly sessions, we can move to fortnightly, single or ad hoc sessions as you require. But I endeavour to be flexible in meeting the needs of my clients.

Currently I have spaces available face-to-face in Gandy Street, Exeter and online, if that works better. I look forward to meeting you.
