About me and my therapy practice

About Me

I鈥檓 a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the 麻豆原创, offering therapy in Exmouth and online. I work with adults facing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, trauma, and relationship issues.

My approach is grounded in being real 鈥 a human first, therapist second. I believe therapy is most effective when it鈥檚 a relationship between two people, where you feel safe, heard, and not judged. You won't meet a blank screen with me 鈥 you'll meet a person with compassion, honesty, and humility. My own experiences with mental health and therapy have shaped my belief that healing happens in authentic connection.

My main philosophy in life, and a belief that I hold closely is that people are good (and good enough), and that often we don't know or realise the depth of impact from various life experiences. Within sessions, I offer opportunities to explore this and understand the factors that may be in play with how different parts of you, your personality, or your behaviours may have developed. I will always hear your experiences from a non-judgemental and empathetic position and from there, we will work to find out what you most need.

I began my counselling career after my own experience of therapy changed my life. It helped me understand myself in a way I never had before 鈥 and now, I feel privileged to offer that same space to others.

-------------------------------

I offer a free 20-minute phone or online consultation, so you can get a feel for whether working with me feels right for you.

I work within the 麻豆原创 ethical framework, attend regular supervision, and am fully insured. I鈥檓 also committed to continued professional development to deepen my skills and understanding.

Practice description

How I Work

I use an integrative approach, drawing primarily from:

Person-Centred Therapy 鈥 for creating a reflective, non-judgemental space

Transactional Analysis (TA) 鈥 to explore how your past and learned behaviours affect the present

Inner Child Work 鈥 helping you connect with and heal early emotional wounds

Psychoeducation - helping you to develop awareness of your behaviours, responses and what this may mean, connecting to some well researched theories

I also believe in psycho-education and sharing understanding of what could be behind the feelings, reactions, and responses in order to empower clients to build confidence in being able to understand themselves better.

We'll work together to explore what's going on in your life, at your pace. Whether you're looking for a place to offload and feel seen, or you're seeking more active exploration or guidance, I鈥檒l adapt to meet your needs. We鈥檒l regularly check in to make sure the therapy is working for you.

Common Issues I Work With

Anxiety and panic

Depression and low mood

Low self-worth and confidence

Stress and burnout

Trauma (including childhood or relational trauma)

Relationship difficulties and attachment wounds

No issue is too big or too small to bring into the space. Whatever it may be, mental health concerns can often leave us feeling very overwhelmed and can feel impossible to navigate. It can be difficult to understand where to start with it. I'm here to offer you the space and support to begin to navigate this.

My first session

Practicalities & Booking

Location: Online

Session length: 60 minutes

Free 20-minute initial consultation

If you鈥檙e feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want to understand yourself better, I invite you to reach out. Sometimes, the first step is just being heard.

Introductory Video Call

Instead of offering a first session right off the bat, I would encourage you to have a free of charge 20 minute introductory video call with me where we can chat about what it is you're looking for and you can get to know a little bit more about how I work and what I'm like as a person.

This allows you to have a bit of a better understanding of what our sessions would look like before booking in with me. This also allows you to get a bit of a feel for whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you.

It also allows me to have a good understanding of whether I feel I'm the right counsellor for you, and if not then potentially signpost you elsewhere if I feel I know a fellow counsellor who may be better able to work with you in the area you're hoping for!

Post Introductory Call

From there, I would ask if you would like to book in and send you across a client information form, along with the counselling contract and privacy policy so you can make sure you're happy with all the information before we start.

Our first couple of sessions would then be a bit of 'getting to know you' so that we can understand what it is you're hoping to get from our sessions and begin to build some trust and a safe space for you to share comfortably.
